Default torque steer? new rims and tires same problem

hey,

I have a 1997 honda accord special addiction (F22B2) with a manual swap

mods (nothing major but aftermarket)

cat back exhaust
header
magnaflow cat
short ram intake
plugs wires ignition coil
2 week old rims and tires
and many misc stuff i have done

this problem only started happening when i swaped the transmission to stick shift

in first gear or even 2nd gear no matter what revv point im at if i step on the gas im getting crazy torque steer this is not a vtec engine and it comes stock with 130HP 139 torque with all my mods im probably up to 145 tops?? in first or 2nd gear when i open the throttle fully i got nasty torque steer and over exaggerated wheel spin this car currently does not have LSD so one wheel is pulling the car anyone have a fix for me? the only reason im worried is because i do want to boost the engine and put a vtec head on this motor but its torque steer is so unsafe on NA i don't what to fly into a tree or smack into the person next to me could this be because my suspension is old?

thanks you for any input in advance

A change in wheel/tire setup won't really eliminate torque steer. You'll need to do some suspension work, and maybe add in an LSD.

ummm suspension is going to do nothing.

are your tires bald, or just some crappy no name brands from the flea market?

An LSD is just going to make both of the tires spin but it wont pull id say look at getting some decent tires before an LSD.

Sure it will, if he's got a blown bushing on one side of the car.

I agree with the other posts; yes, it could be caused by a lot of different things. (One of which is cold weather, which makes it difficult to get traction regardless of everything else.) But if you're planning to upgrade the power anyway, it makes sense to get some really good tires first. I'm guessing you have all-season tires on it now...? All-season tires are a compromise for folks who have to use the same tires in snow and frigid cold as in moderate to warm temperatures the rest of the year. It really doesn't make sense to compromise on tires if you're planning to spend time and effort to achieve faster acceleration, only to use tires that can't handle the added power. Get some of today's "extreme performance summer tires" now, so you can troubleshoot the wheelspin; you'll need them soon for the added power anyway. Once you upgrade your tires, if you are still experiencing wheelspin, then look at some of the other possible causes.

If you need an example, you could get some 17x7 wheels for your car and slap on a set of those Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R tires that are on closeout at the Tire Rack; the 205/45-17 size is $88/tire, which is an awesome deal.

If you have to drive your car in winter snow too, you can use your current wheels and tires for that; if the winter grip is crap, you could get some good winter tires instead.

thank you for all your input so far

i have 17x7 rims from a local speed shop here in NY (Rayco 4) i have nankang ns 2 tires they came with the rims i retryed today to get a more accurate wheel hop my car hops like a bunny flooring it in 2nd gear if i start at 35 anywhere below 35 in first if i fight the torque steer the wheel that pulls the car looses traction so much i don't accelerate fast at all there is a lot of slippage for 3 week old tires i was going to turbo the car after LSD of course but if im getting this much lost traction there will be no point because no power is being put onto the ground

That's one big problem, right there. It may or may not be your only problem; you won't know for sure until you try a stickier tire and see you still get wheelspin.
