Default Type-R or H22/23 Swap?

Sup guys, well as the Title says i have a friend who has a very clean CRX si. Right now he has a SiR swap in it with a cable b16 tranny. He is tired of his SiR w/ high compression pistons and is looking to do a swap. He has 3 choices to choose from.

1. - Swap a JDM B18C5 and put some spoon headers, intake manifold and apex-i pfc for tune.

2. - Get a H22/23 frankenstien swap with with headers and tune

3. - Build his SiR swap for NA power since he already has High Compression pistons, prings and studs but put a ITR tranny and tune.

He is leaning towards ITR tranny and engine kuz he hasnt seen any Type-R CRXs and kuz the rarerity of the engine. I know ExplicitPerformance in Tacoma can get him the H22/23 swap and make it fast.

Whats your guys advice and input on this.

OPTION 1, 2, or 3?

Do people still buy the ITR motor? So over priced. H/F series all day.

Are you from this planet?

I priced it out and I was quite a bit cheaper going with the JDM ITR swap over a good H-swap.

You just have to shop around and find a good deal.

I went with the R swap because.

*Huge selection of trannys

*Keeping AC isnt an issue

*Re-sale value

*H22 powered CRX's feel pretty damn nose heavy to drive

option 4

i own a itr swapped crx and if i was him i would keep the b16 in it and drop the compression to 9:1 or so and turbo it.
or does he really want N/A?
the b16a turboed would not bore him

You can buy a h22 for $800. H2b kit for 1000. He already has b16 tranny. Cheaper + more power= the smarter choice.

So your huge selection of tranny's means nothing. Heavier?? Less than 50lb difference. Not that nose heavy

This is true. But you need to grind the block for halfshaft clearance, modify wiring harness, remove timing cover (setting correct timing is much more difficult), the hood will not fit, H2B headers are expensive, unless you have aftermarket axles you risk breaking them, the ground clearance is horrible, relocate the alternator, and some other things i can't remember. If he had a EG I would say do it, otherwise he is looking a a huge hassle.

Having driven an H22 eg and plenty of B16/B18 civics, go with the H22. The throttle response and torque that the H22 produces is awesome. SCC did a write up a few years back of one of the first H22 CRX's that Hasport built and the results were surprising. It wasn't nearly as nose heavy as you might think and with the right suspension work will handle nearly as well as any b-series swapped CRX.

we found a whole ITR clip for $3kwith our military discount. cause of the rarety even though it seems like some of you have a ITR swapped CRX. if u guys have buddies with a Teg let them know we have a right hand drive conversion to get rid of. ITR carpet, dash, console, and maybe steering wheel.
