Default ebay "timing advance kit"

I was doing my normal browsing on ebay and found a timing advance kit for a civic. It sounded good at first, but after reading some negative feedback i found out that its nothing more than a little resistor that you tap into a sensor. Supposedly it tricks the engine into thinking that it is getting cooler air, and therefore advances the timing. I was just wondering if anyone has tried anything like this, because im still kinda curious.

It could cause engine damage. Do you know what too much advance on an engine will do?

well i think the timing is advanced some when the car is first started, and i know it runs richer at that point........i think the idea is to try to keep those settings at all times, and not just warm up.....but who knows, i just thought it would be fun to screw around with and accidentally knock .01 seconds off my time.

I'f you are going to **** with it, use a potetiometer instead of a resistor. a potentiometer or a pot, is basically a variable resistance resistor. so you can change it around if you need to. Of course you increase the chance of bad things too
