Best Halogen Bulb
The SilverStar is a decent bulb, I had them on a previous car and they were better than stock. I would recommend the PIAA Xtreme white bulb, I had them on my EM1 and they had great light output, gave a HID-ish cutoff on walls and buildings, it wad kinda cool.
HID's will never be rice, how could something far superior to something else be considered "rice"? Especially now when majority of cars come stock with HID's?
that be like saying porsche's are the new rice

But it is true, at least where I live - lot's of ricers drive around with purple/deep blue headlights with terrible cutoffs, which does get quite annoying. But if you have 6000K or below HIDs, it's never too bad in stock housings.
Unless you're using your car in some 24 hour races, there will never be a need for HID's. Therefore it falls under the category of "needless upgrade", much like every other part considered to be "rice".
its just better tech, no doubt in my mind that all cars in the future will come with HID's stock, half of them do now anyways.
If u do decide on HIDs please dont buy cheap ones, make sure they are aimed properly and light is not "scattered" all over road I got blinded by a ricedout accord on the way home from class 2ngt. Not fun
I had Raybrigs in my JDM 1-pieces, on my last DA.
They weren't attention grabbing, although they had quite a bit greater light output that the stock bulbs. Appearance wise, they were a crystal white in color.

^Sorry I don't have pictures on my EM1 with the PIAA's. One thing to check out though, when you do get new bulbs, make sure your headlights are aimed correctly, they can become uneven over time. This happened to me because of a deer wreck and the body shop never corrected the beam aim.
