ok here is my problem....
i got a third gear grind problem when i shift in the high rpms...either its...
1. the shift linkage is bad and that i should try a 99-00 Si shift linkage because i was using a gsr linkage
-so i did that and the grind never went away
2. the other problem he said could be worn out motor mounts (the lower block and tranny mounts) that caused the motor to move causing the tranny to grind....
-i am going to order the motor mount insert kit on monday....
but i just wanted to know what u guys did about your grinding gears....if any of you guys had this problem, please let me kno wat your experiences were...thanks

Well, your shiftlinkage should have nothing to do with it.
I'm running GSR shiftlinkage with no problems at all.
Could it be your clutch fluid? Or could it be your clutch altogether?

mounts?
ive never heard of that
im using a gsr linkage, works fine with my b16
you know its possible you just have a bum syncro.
make SURE your using honda manual transmission fluid
it could be related but highly dobutfull.

its probably your synchros in the transmission...my car would grind bad at high rpms also so i just took it back to the dealer and it was in fact the synchros ...so ya hope this helps

huh.....tru dat!
thanks for the help anyways.....
The problems internal. you need somone to open it up and replace 3rd gear assembly witch comes with the syncro ring. While your in there replace main shaft bearing and seal.fill with only honda mtf.we charge about $800.no need to pay for on overhaul for things you don't need.

i dont have a shortshifter...i have the motor mount inserts but i still havent installed them....any of you know how to do it? ( i meant as in how do you go about putting them on, do you have to remove the upper mounts to release the load on the lower mounts? etc..etc...etc...)
thanks
I would check the rear motor mounts, my civic have a broken one and it grinds when I do the hi rev shifts. What I did is I installed an ploy mount insert and it went alway.

dammit!!!!!!!
i got the lower torque mounts installed and they didnt make a difference...i havent installed the rear mount because i have to pull the motor out to do that so.....im still stuck with the damn third gear grind....
i want to know how a clutch can be involved in making the gear grind...any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

damn dood, it scares me when people constantly say that, because that costs money to fix....well see when i get a clutch, it might help out and also when i get my motor mount rear insert installed.....
with a clutch being the problem i guess it just wouldn't engage all the way and make you grind like the cable ain't set right, but my best diagnoses of that would be the syncros. I know that is a pain in the *** in my other car i didn't even bother with rebuilding it, took to much time away from me(i would have done it my self). I just bought a reman tranny for it. Never had any problems with it but i blew the motor up 2 months later.
yup i have the same problem but in 2nd. well mine only happens when i go around turns. i went to acura (cause i have an ls) and they said syncro. well they wanted 800 so i am thinking of letting it basiclly blow and get a type r tranny...
what do you guys think should i do type r or gsr or si tranny
