grinding noise in rear...help
i have an 02 civic Si and i recently have slid into a curb pretty hard and hit the curb with the tire now when i go over 30 i hear a grinding noise on the side i hit (rear driver side). it gets worse when i turn to the right sharply it sounds like something is rubbing. i know i didnt bend the rim because i changed it and it still makes the noise. i took a look at the axel etc. and nothing appears to be bent. what could it be? my grandpa who is ASE said it could be the wheel bearings?
I'm with grandpa, or possibly brake caliper mounting bracket, or rotor, maybe the spindle itself, it has to be a moving part.
I would get the bearing, as it should be replaced anyway, smacking a curb with a wheel is not good for the bearing at all, then pull it all apart and find problem, if it turns out it is something differant then the bearing, replace the bearing anyway, just to be safe. 94
