The dash from 92-93 had no passenger air bag. The glove box was ever so slightly different in the mounts. I can't think of anything else.

-'92 - 93 models have the inserts in the bumper for foglights black, '94 - '95 are painted.
-As stated the '92 - '93 Dash has no passenger's side airbag
-'92 - '93 use a different glove compartment than '94 - '95
-'92 - '93 DXs have a firewall mounted MAP sensor, '94 - '95 and all other hatchback models have a throttlebody mounted MAP sensor (the engine harness differs between these years, '92 - '93 have a seperate MAP sensor harness coming from under the battery tray, its integrated into the engine harness in '94 - '95 models
-'92 models are prewired for vtec to the shock tower plugs
-'95 models use a different fuel filter than all other years
-'92 - '93 models use R12 A/C, '94 - '95 models use R134a
-'92 - '93 models have a smooth climate control bezel, '94 - '95 models are textured and a slightly darker shade of grey.
-'92 - '93 IAT sensor plugs are white, '94 - '95 are grey.

Some of the differences I listed aren't cosmetic, but I figured i'd list them anyway.

Vtec wire colors from the ECU to the shock tower are as follows:
orange/white - vtec solenoid
orange/blue - vtec pressure switch

The blue wire you speak of, is it in the driver's side rear corner of the engine bay? If so its the tach test wire, its there for a tech to plug in an external tach.

Thats strictly trim level related, it has nothing to do with year.

Correct (also personally know someone with a '92 Si and can confirm that it originally came with painted door handles and mirrors)

Only '92 civics (all trim levels, hatchback and sedan, remember there are no '92 coupes.) and all Si and VX hatchbacks.

I always thought the mirrors were black for the 92 hatchbacks, regardless of trim level. I knew of a few that had 92 Si hatchbacks and they all had black mirrors.

He's saying the 92-93 hatchbacks have BLACK inserts. 94-95 have color matched inserts.

Another thing I'd like to add is that none of the hatchbacks came with a chin spoiler except for the VX trim. The VX also came with some rear air diffuser that is mounted by the back bumper cover.

Also, Si hatchbacks have power moonroofs and mirrors.

Can anyone confirm if the CX and DX came with tachs? I forgot this mundane detail but do remember the VX and Si came with tachs.

No tach on the cx/dx models in any years...

Every '92 Si hatch I know came with painted mirrors from the factory, perhaps the ones you saw had replacement mirrors? I have seen a '92 EX sedan that came with unpainted mirrors, actually it only had the driver's side mirror, other side had a block off plate. Had the factory painted door handles and licence plate tub too.

94EG8,

My 94 CX hatch has black inserts. I do believe all CX model 92-95 had black inserts for foglights.

Body-coloured Door Mirrors: 92(?)-95 Si
I was beginning to suspect that maybe the Canadian 92 Si models had matching mirrors, and seeing how both of you are from Canada my suspicions have been confirmed.

Here in the States the 92 Si hatchbacks and 92 EX sedans (both top of the line trim levels) have black mirrors.

Not sure if this applied to the '93 models, but the lower trim level 92 Civics also didn't come with a passenger side mirror (they were optional). I think they were standard on 94-95 models across the board, but I'm not 100% sure since I no longer have the 94 and 95 brochures.

Nah, you're right. A quick check of Toronto Craigslist for unmodified Si's revealed no colour-matched side mirrors until '93. I've revised my list (removed the '?'). Good info.

I'm impressed here, most people are unaware of those last two items.

I wish I could find some hard printed evidence one way or the other, but all that i've seen have been painted for '94 - '95

Hmm, I want to get some hard evidence on this, all the '92 Si's i'm aware of had painted mirrors.

Does anyone have a sales brochure for any '92 - '95 civic hatchback (especially a Canadian one because quite honestly i'd just really like to see the spec sheet in the back, actually i'd like to see a canadian sedan one as well) that they would be willing to scan and post pics on photobucket?

I agree. Some CDM CX's definitely had rear wipers. I have seen too many for it to be a coincidence, or chalked up to a "swapped rear glass" or a "swapped trunk lid" (ergo, changing the emblem model marker). Must have been a CDM dealer option.

I'll expand that by saying it applies to 92-95 CX's and VX's. Again, I'm pretty sure it was a dealer option.

Good call, didn't know this. I will change my running list above. (Did it come on any sedans? eg., EX-V or Special Edition something)

'92 only CXs (possibly VXs as well) came with a vinyl interior, all other years were cloth fabric.
Vinyl was an option here in Canada, too? Or, was it standard, with no cloth option? I know it was available in the US, on '92 CX's.

I'm impressed here, most people are unaware of those last two items.
Heh. Try finding a 92 Si black non-SRS steering wheel with cruise. Nearly impossible. I came close in Kingston once, but the previous owner had already swapped the steering wheel... for a 3-prong one! Sheesh.

My next question: On what CDM models were airbags either: A. Not available; B. Optional; C. Standard; or, D. Installed for both passenger and driver? This is beyond my scope of knowledge for my puny brain. Maybe you can chime in.

Well, the one I took apart definately had the whole thing (IE wasn't just a swapped hatchglass, i've also seen several at the junkyard the same way) and i'm quite sure no one added it later, all the wiring was stock (I removed all harnesses in the car, they were clearly never tampered with)

No, never on a sedan, I own an LX special edition sedan, they really weren't all that special, as for the EX-V (Same as the US EX for those south of the border) they didn't come with a lip either.

I'm quite sure, but i'll try to positively confirm this weekend (I know someone who has a '92 CX, i'll try to get a look at his, I seem to recall it being vinyl though.

A friend of mine has one in her '92 Si, i'm next in line for it, those 3 spoke wheels are worth good money btw if you sell them on ebay.

CXs I believe it was unavailable (I have yet to see even one that had even a driver's side airbag.) They may have been available on DXs (again I don't think i've ever seen one) They were available on a '93 Canadian LX sedan (seen it with my own eyes) And I believe EX-Vs had standard driver's side airbags for all years (not sure about passenger's side) I think all coupes had a standard driver's side airbag, and I think '94 - '95 models all had dual airbags (this includes the special editions) The oddball LX special edition sedans do not have airbags (I have actual documentation on this one in the form of the suplementary owners manual that came with the car) so far as I can figure out that its my guess that we got a few extra things thrown in to replace the lack of airbags (Special edition sedans are the same as US DX/Canadian LX sedan with the follow extra featues: clock, armrest, dual mirrors, door pockets, special stereo, vanity mirror, and possibly A/C. DX special edition coupes are a similar story, except they have dual body colored power mirrors [obscure fact: Teal DX special edition coupes have a black interior and they have an armrest]
