Integra got shafted while i was in the club last night... Viper 300+ alarm ... just did the lock smith tool trick .. where they shimmy some tool down the window glass and it comes back up inside the cab and depresses the electronic door lock.. ganked an alpine headunit ... alpine changer from the glove box .. while the alarm was going off

I know some other guys on here have warned ya before..... disconnet those electric doorlockzzzzzzzzz

Dude... been there done that!

Broken in the first time probably by the switch. Nothing broken.

2nd time the switches were disabled:

- body damage
- roof damage by the moon roof
- door pulled out 1/2"
- crow bar marks
- rear window smashed
- missed 1 complete day of work (while the 1st one was just a few hours)

You be the judge. If they want it, they will figure out a way to get it.

Did a search and it didn't turn up anything. I still want the power locks to operate but is there an easy way to disconnect the switches? Maybe remove the switch lever altogether?

Marty.

You can get RS Integra door handle trim, which did not have power locks, so no tabs. If it were me I would want to install an aftermarket switch somewhere else... I personally use the interior door lock switch like if somebody is riding with me and I stop to let them out, or if I am letting someone in.

or better yet, the damn switch shouldn't have power to it, if the damn car is off! that would solve everyone's problem. Is that so hard?

Does anyone ever try rigging their alarm up to the power door lock power line so when the alarm is armed the circuit gets broken thus not having power when the alarm is armed?

I think I'm just not going to drive my car anywhere that it will be at risk. Which is just about everywhere, I guess I'll just take it to school (I get there @ 7:30 am so I park right next to the lot security booth) and at work (I work at a mall and I can park right outside the door I work at so I can just walk by and see it). Other than that I'm gonna have to roll with a friend in his\her hoopty. Car theives **** me the F*CK OFF. I miss my prelude (stolen 4/25/02, recovered 6/13/02 and sold. Only lost my 17" Niche shocking shocks w\ toyos) oh well. Im done venting

jersey sucks with car theft. anywhere on 22 or anywhere with a road that can take you into newark quickly is a BAD place to park. where in jersey do you live 97redteggsr?

I did that on my car.. well actually I connected the stock "unlock" switch position to a door trigger on my alarm.. so while the alarm is armed if you flick the switch.. it sets of the alarm siren, air horns, pages me, etc.... but the lock position still works... I also relocated a switch/put one to the center console by the shifter like on BMW's so that I still have use of the feature when I need to let a passenger out .... I've been told I eliminated one way to get into the car but theres many others.. some non destructive and others more destructive.... if they really want it they'll break in even w/ the alarm going

I was going to start a thread in members forum on where you guys kick it..but then I figured many of you would list clubs (where the cars parked and unattended for a few hours) so I decided not to start a thread due to possible theft of members cars...

agreed ... these peeps had the ballz to G my stuff while the alarm was going off .. so i guess they were prepared to smash a window i guess ?? but .. im not gonna give it to em .. there gonna have to work for it .. total it .. or give me a new paint job ... ill take either or ... im just glad the theivezz werent interested in stealing the whole car ... engines worth more than the damn electronics |:

GSrrrrrrrrrboiiii how did you say you hooked the switch up ? you used the wires for a pin switch on the alarm .. to sound it ?

my friend did the wiring..he used the unlock wire/position on the switch so that when the power door lock button is flicked to unlock it sets off the alarm (alarm see's it as a door trigger/open door...the door lock switch/mechanism just needs a negative trigger to lock or unlock)... the switch still works in the "lock" position to lock the doors but I hardly use that since I have ignition controlled door locks also.... then I wired a switch near my center console/shifter like on bmws that works for both lock and unlock so that I can still unlock my door to let passengers out and such....

edit: oh yeah to clarify.. when you flick the door switches for power door locks on my car... the unlock position WON'T unlock your doors... when the alarm is armed and you flick the switch to UNLOCK.. it will NOT unlock the doors.. however it WILL sound the alarm siren (both underhood and in cabin) and also flash the lights and air horns..and also page me.... to unlock my doors w/ the ignition on.. I can either do it manually or use the switch by the center console/shifter that I added... when the ignition isn't on.. I can use the alarms remote to arm the alarm/disarm and lock/unlock the doors.. but that function doesn't work when the motor is started (remote/keyless) so I had the switch in the console added

Try tapping the power supply thru an ignition conrolled (wire) relay that is normally close when power is on and normally open when power is off... that will disable the pwoer door unlock when the car is off.

Not the way I listed it, but if you are decently skilled at wiring and have space for relays, I'm sure you can wire that sequence... but I'm at work and don't feel like doing a diagram.... but yes, it would be possible... trick...yet possible.
