i got a "90 CRX Si and got a D16Y8 in it. blowing blue smoke in all gears and burning oil... what causes this?

 

Headgasket most likely.

 

Actually i think your piston rings might be shot.

 

How much smoke? If your coolant / oil is ok, it's probably your rings.

good lord! go the *uck away! you clutter up this guys thread and other forums with your stupid advertisements, and you actually expect us to purchase something from you? not likely. in fact i'm probably less likely to purchase nike shoes at all, from anywhere, simply because of you. i sincerely hope that a nike marketing director finds you and punches you square in the throat. and may the fleas of a thousand horny camels infest your nether regions.

that aside massive amounts of smoke are generally due to piston rings and/or valve seals leaking. do a compression and cylinde leakdown test to try and narrow down the problem.

even if the leakdown is ok its prob oil control rings. you can actually do this in the car if youre in a pinch, and its not too bad. pull the head and oil pan, re-ring it, (with a light hone to break the glaze) and put back together with all new gaskets. should be fine.

 

coolant is good.. i asked alot of people about this problem and asked me if it smoked in all gears (witch it does) and said it was me rings... got dis guy who willing 2 rebuild my motor for $400... good price? only Sh!TY thing about it that is he wants the only the motor alone out the car and hes like 40 miles away...

 

thats a great deal. does that include parts, or is that just labor? still that is assuming of course he actually knows what he's doing.

400 for new pistons and rings all seals fresh hone and all new bearings...sounds a little fishy to me...400 for all that and it includes labor...be very carefull

 

yea i kno i was saying the same thing... imma talk 2 the guy and see what he means by "Rebuilding"...
