very interested in these SUV's

 

I own an auto 99 isuzu rodeo ls 4wd. It's stock except for some cosmetic add-ons. Here is a pix.

i dont knoe much bout suv'ing butt im workin my way up.
im jockin the guard grille/fogs.... how much that cost ya?

 

Wheels are the 15x8 cragar soft 8 wrap on 31s BFgoodrich A/T tires. I got my brush guard through ebay for a little under 200. Lights with hella 100 watt bulbs cost me about 80 for all four on ebay too. Than I just do my own wirings. I still pretty new to these suv too. That pix was before I install the oem copy-cat fog lights and 00-04 isuzu rodeo (red & white) tail lights with the oem black trim on it.

 

I wouldn't be too interested in those much longer. Isuzu has pulled out of the USA and parts are going to get hard to find quick. Most dealers are already having problems getting parts.
Those things are garbage anyway.

wow. isuzu anythings are the biggest pieces of **** ever. do not buy one if you want a car that is gonna last and you're not gonna have to dump a **** ton of money into.

 

The best part about those is the Dana 44 axles some of them have.

They have a GM drivetrain. IMO they are junk, they were a bad mix of GM & Isuzu technology that Honda used out of desperation to have an SUV... They let Isuzu rebadge the Odyssey and Honda got to rebadge the Rodeo

 

It wasn't desperation at all. Honda didn't know if the SUV thing was going to take off. So instead of designing one of their own they went the cheap route and bought one. Once they knew it was here to stay the Pilot came out.

 

Doesn't change the fact that they are junk
Every time we get one in the shop, every tech cringes and hopes they don't end up with it in their bay.

 

I don't mind them. It's just nuts and bolts.

 

I love my Passport. Its been a great SUV. A couple of years ago I installed a new 3.5 that is normally used in the Trooper. Runs like a champ.

 

It's not going to be so great once you can't get parts for it anymore.

 

It'll be years before that happens. I'm sure I'll have moved on to something else by then.

 

I had a 2000 rodeo with a 2.2 liter pos. It was produced by daewoo with random gm **** scattered here and there. Timing belt broke at 90k and ruined the head. Next was the fuel pump, head gasket, timing belt tensioner (once again warped every single valve), and all the little things like starters, alternators, and so on.. I finally got it back running and sold it for a civic.

 

i had a 95 4 cycl. that someone game to me as a pizza tip one time. the egr valve was busted and all the seals where blown in it. but i drove it everywhere. LA to SF. loved the car. sold it on ebay for around 3g to a guy in mexicali. miss the car more than anything.
