i know people hate these kind of questions, but i know nothing about these cars yet. an im trying to learn more an research but in the meantime.. it has a dr20det red top swap in it.. an im trying to get an idea how fast of a car this is?.. can people enlighten me? .. just trying to get an idea of how fast they are.. i keep getting told by the person i bought it from its really fast blah blah.. the motor is stock.. what kind of times is it capable of?.. not what will i run, but capable of in a 93 fast back.. just wondering..
The car IS capable of 12s with the stock bottom end, but not with stock tuning, suspension, weight etc. You need some kind of engine management and/or boost controller. This is the wrong place to ask this question also, not that im trying to deter you but my knowledge as far as nissans go is limited (as well as most people on here), and you should be on a 240sx/silvia forum with much more knowledgeable people regarding the car and motor. I have a friend that has this motor in his 240 and its an awesome motor that needs very little modding to get lots of power. The basics on this car (turbo mani, full 3" exhaust, intake mani,) and tuning will net about 3-350hp. Thats a fast car if its set up right. My advice starting out would be to get engine management, get the car tuned and use that as a baseline. Then go from there. That motor is capable of quite a bit. Good pick up.
^^ True. Tune. Flow (int, ext). Get an EGT gauge, boost gauge and controller and a wideband O2 to help monitor. If the engine is healthy, you can safety bump from 7psi to 10psi. I would also find a good T28 turbo for an upgrade. 550cc injectors. You should be breaking into the 400hp range easy.
