Default anyone else have a money pit civic!?

dont get me wrong i love my civic

picked up a 93 civic ex sedan for $1400 wiht a d15b7 with z6 head and p28 ecu recently for 1400

since then ive redone the axels inner outter tie rod pass side. now i have to get camber kit (which i was gonna get when i lowered just not yet lol) and have to pay for alignment and the frusterations with electrical. i hate electrical probs and i have a few with cluster and cold/heat lights lol.

still gotta finish full tune up

but does anyone else get stuff done to their civic and then tons of other things go wrong and it kinda makes a feel crappy but deep inside you cant help but love your civic?

...the thing is you are expecting some marvelous car from 1400$. if you wanted no problems, you should have spent 4K and got a slightly newer one. imo, your are in a unique spot to redo a lot of innards corretly! good luck.

but believe me, i have spend almost 10K on my EK, and it does get old. but i love it ever so much more because of the wrench time i put into it.

nono dont get me wrong. i was just dissapointed is all that i didnt catch the axels and tie rods when i test drove because i was so caught up in wanted another civic so bad.

the innards are tough. id way rather deal with engine work tbh lol. electrical problems frustrate me.

i plan on poppping my small dents and then possibly doing a first time diy paint job at my friends shop! so taht will be a fun experience. and i plan on running this engine till it starts giving me problems before i decide to swap.

i cant wait to invest some wrench time in this car though and get that feeling of satisfaction and love for my car. ive never put a bunch of time into a car and really been able to appreciate it. so i cant wait

and i hear ya on the 10k lol

a friend of mine did a gsr swap in his eg and a nice *** suspension and has wrecked it liek 6 times so es put quite a bit of money into his lmao

I am 29 and I have owned 2 cars, both Civics, since I was 18. Both had well over 100k miles when I bought them. I kept them mostly stock except a B16A swap for one. I look back and think it's ridiculous how LITTLE money I put into them to keep them safely driveable.

OP it sounds like you got a Civic that was someone's project car that was also a bit neglected. There is always that risk when you by someone else's "mess".

I don't get it. Sounds like your problem is you have a car that needed the suspension components rebuilt (happens when you get to 250000kms) and a few dash lights are burnt. Still, any older clean body honda is worth putting a little money into to keep it nice.

let me give you a list of what has gone wrong with my em1 since i bought it.

i bought it in june of 07 heres a list of everything that was done to it. pretty much stock b16a2 with greddy turbo kit and greddy gauges. i noticed what i was getting into when i bought it everything was halfed assed on it. but i figured i would save this em1 since i always loved them. but when i bought it, it was running more boost than what the greddy kit normally run and it had that piggy back system which is garbage. guy never had it tuned with a p28 or nothing like that. after two week having it and not having any money saved up to get anything done right on it cel comes on for misfire codes. so right away did a compression test numbers accross the board were like 55 just remember this was a stock b16 should be like around 200. so i ended up ripping the motor apart spent about 3k in rods pistons gaskets rod bearing arp head studs oil pump water pump timing belt clutch. built the whole bottom end for boost . eagle rods je pistions. got that all together went got a p28 ecu conversion harness and got it dyno tuned on neptune. after teo weeks of driving around breaking the motor in. blew out both wheel bearings. a week later some one smashed my wind shield . a months later hit a deer smashed my bumper and hood. a month or so after that both axel boots i noticed were torn so replaced noth axels and about 4 months ago had someone smashed my passanger side window. and im still fixing problems wit the car and remember this is a 2000 should have this many problems but i love the car and hondas in general.

sorry for long post hope this makes you feel better.

yea kinda lol. i had a cluster in it that said 124k but i know the body has been through more than that lol. and i agree. even a cheap good running b16 swap and my car will last for a looong time without issues.

I wanna see some project build money pits.

Most are the DD repair money pits so far!

My daily DA9 could be a money pit but i havent maintained it.

Needs tyres, timing belt, water pump, service, windscreen, blower motor, wheel bearings, discs, windcreen wiper arms and blades, dint in rear quarter repaired, new cat. Im sure theres more...

Im going to run this thing into the ground. If it dies ill get something new and part it out, possibly keep the block for an LS/VTEC build if i ever feel the need to attempt one.
