I want to get some component speakers for my car. Budget is about $250 tops. Max depth for the woofer is about 3in or so. Can you recommended me a set that have great bass response?

Back in the day (late ninety's) I had a set of Boston Acoustic Pros that were phenomenal , pretty much the best component speakers I have ever heard. But those are a bit out of my price range now, and I am not sure how the market has changed since then.

i heard both on a alipne cda 9886 and they sound great.

 

alpine type s are pretty decent. might want to look into either infinity references or kappas.

 

Do you already have an aftermarket source? Will you be amping these? What is your goal?

can't go wrong with infinity, boston acoustic, or mb quartz. or if you want decent cheaper sound kicker or kenwood

 

Boston Pro Series

 

I got a Avic D3 (weak preamp lol ) with a 300w x2 Memphis audio amp. I think I have decided to go with the polk's. I would love to get some Boston pros but don't think they would fit or be in my budget.

A used set of boston pros for your budget and if you get lucky you MIGHT be able to get some Boston z6 or z5 in your price range on eBay. They've been replaced with the spz so hope tooany people aren't searching for the z's
