OK my buddy brought me a crx (86 i think) and asked me to do his headgasket.. ok well i pull it apart marking the timing belt and the distributor so i dont get it 180* out and all that, well its all back together and starts and runs but idles at about 3500 or so.. im thinking that i either got the timing a little off or the intake has a bad seal (he said just use the old seal so i did lol) Im going to pull the intake back off and clean the old gasket off and seal it with some rtv and hope thats it if not which way should i turn the cam? i know its an interference motor and i don't wanna screw his head up bc it would have to come out of my pocket.

 

check the throttle body, who knows, it could be dirty and not closed all the way.

 

sounds like a big vac. leak. check the brake booster line.

 

This is also my guess.
