What's your Dash?
Well I'm in the middle of building a "sfwd" car, and while I have the dash out for the guy making the cage I'm debating making something or cutting up the stock deck. Just wondering what people are doing. It's still going to be a street car.
Post up some pics please

My dash has never been out of the car. I had the chassis guy just drill 2 hole threw the vents and route the pipe past the heat and fuse panel. I had to remove the windshield but itwas cracked anyways. It only cost $25 to have the windshield pulled which is well worth not pulling the dash out. I hate when cars have hacked up dashs.

Man screw that, i love to have the luxury of taking my dash out to work on the wiring and so forth. It makes life soooo much easier. I couldnt imagine not being able to take my dash out.

..Im with Miller on this one. Being able to take out the dash does makes things easy when switching things up. Ive seen Tom do tons of cages including mine where the dash is out first, so the cage can be tight. Then it gets notched. And its far from being hacked up.
Yeah that was my thought, it could get alot tighter and look a bit cleaner that way. I'm gunna take the dash back there tonight, and were gunna look at our options.
Boostfeen, do you have any pics looking the other way at the a-pillar how its cut out?

..I don't have a pic. right now of that angle, but the notch is just as clean. The notch on the passenger side is a lil bigger, but you can use the piece you cut out as the filler.
I guess if its a race car. My car is a 100% street car and you would spend more time pulling the dash and all the other stuff along with it then the wiring job itself.
We do alot of street car cages and that why we like to get them so tight, we try to make it so the car is as little in the way then it needs to be up front. Alot of people cant tell when there are cages in some of the cars. Taking the dash out isnt all that hard even when everything is behind it, i persoanlly dont care for the cages run through the vent holes because the bars are in the way and the dash cant come out. I guess to each there own but we wont even do a cage through the dash, lol.
on an ek, going through the vent holes is still a tight fit and there are ways you can still make the dash removable. but on an eg, i totally understand how the cage can be in the way with respect to the vent hole location
Yeah we've decided were gunna notch the dash, possibly go in threw the windshield (reinstalling the dash)for less cutting (work with window guys so can do it for free) I'll take pics later, but its looking gorgeous. Can barley tell there is a cage in the car

i will say being able to remove the dash makes life easy. luckily i dont need a full cage but i have been doing alot of work inside the firewall so i eliminated all factory wiring to my dash and deleted the cluster. replaced it w/ tach, oil, and temp. cut the bezel to fit around them and now my integra dash drops into my civic w/ 4 bolts nothing more to worry about or hasle with. goes in or out in literally 1 minute after removing the steering wheel.
if i were to install a cage, i would simply notch the dash and slide it right in.
