Default OEM Half shaft 96 accord 4 cyl different?

Question: The spline on my NEW honda half shaft part # 44010-SV1-A51 looks different (tranny end inbooard side) than my old shaft?? The channel for the lock ring looks wider, and the splined section is definately different. Is there a difference in the new shaft- Can I use the old lock ring?

Made the mistake of buying a honda half shaft new-thru the mail. Should have purchased rebuilt from Honda. Also, they didn't ship my bands, bolts, grease etc from the m..ic honda RI dealer.
When I called them they shipped me Texaco grease, no axle nuts, and crappy bands
(not honda double strap type as shipped wit the set from honda .

Question: Does anyone know if the new driveshaft set splines are actually different from the old driveshaft? and are they campatable with the old hardware?

Looks like the axle spline is made so that you do NOT NEED the inner lockring?..
ANYBODY out there to confirm this?
