Default intermittent brake failure

so i was driving around my development and my brakes all of a sudden gave out. I had to pump them to get anything out of them and slowly stop.

when the car is just sitting parked the brakes feel fine.
i replaced my slave cylinder cause the bleeder screw wouldn't come loose

the fluid in the master cylinder seems to stay at the same level, kind of dark though.

anyone know whats going on?

im going to try and bleed the brakes to just make sure its not that.

The slave cylinder is part of the hydraulic clutch system not the brakes.

It's possible it's an internal seal failure in your master cylinder. The fluid just goes right back into the reservoir so you don't notice a loss of fluid. I'd swap it out real fast and you should be good.

Unless he's done recent brake work, there's no reason for there to be air in the system. More than likely it's the MC

if you have checked everything brake related and cannot find anything wrong try this,

some times when a wheel bearing is loose it will push the rotor into the caliper and it will compress the piston into the caliper, therefore when the brake pedal is depressed it will have to "fill" that gap causing a very low intermittent pedal feel.

but first check your MC and make sure your pistons move freely in the calipers.

this situation just happened to my Tacoma last week
