Default Thanks for all the help, a week later! pics!

UPDATE WITH MORE PICS AT BOTTOM OF PAGE!!!!!!!!!well i wanted to thank everyone for there input, info, and criticism on my welding. its been about a month and a half of teaching my self how to tig weld. its been a big challenge, but alot of fun. i still have alot to learn. but i wanted to show everyone how quickly im learning. the last thread i made was "hows this weld?" it was 2 weld el's i welded together. they did not turn out how i wanted, from peoples posts i new i needed more practice. most people said wow, that was a expensive weld... i got 6 Sch10 304 ss 1.5" weld els for free. so after messing up 2 of them i took a step back and really tryed harder to get what i thought was a nere perfect weld in my book. so again thanks for all the help everyone.
heres a weld from 7 days ago

heres the one i did today. 3/32 red tungsten, 1/16th 308L filler, 18cfh pure argon, #12 cup

try making them out of PVC piping first before metal.

No, rule #1 to good tig welding, always use the biggest nozzle and gas lense size possible for the workpiece.

I remember when you just started, looks good. 1G and in a "cheating" position (if the pipe went on it would go thru your stomach), but good. thats about the only position I can get it good at still.

you have to run higher cfm of gas for the the bigger lens... otherwise the gas is blown away easily... personally, i use #8 for almost everything. but sometimes i do use my biggen, which doesnt have a #xx.. its 1.25" ID...

Nice job man major major improvements....just remember nice and slow
FYI in my experience so far you can get the same results with a much smaller cup/lens setup BUT you need to be experienced to do so. Not to mention the large cup hinders your view of the work in many occasions but use it when available.

Lil update....my vband r32 manifold is nearing completion.
