my cluster STILL doesnt work
so i bought a new cluster for my 91 si and i just swapped the new one in. someone told me a solder broke, but i got no idea what a bad solder looks like. can anyone describe it for me please? so i plugged everything up and it was good to go. i didnt plug the defroster and hazards on yet cus i didnt htink itd matter. started her up and nothing still worked. only the speedo worked cus its connected to the tranny. so what do you guys think i should check? i appreciate all the advice!
You gave us no information to go off of. What is the cluster out of/what kind of cluster?
A broken solder is usually cracked and sometimes "burnt" looking. You can test a solder by using a multi-meter/continuity tester.

well first of all its a 91 hf cluster going into my 91 si.
one day i washed swapped my front bumper and i washed it afterwards. later that day (about an hour later) i drove to work and i was gonna signal left so i did. it blinked once, and all of a sudden my rpm died, my signal died, and all my cluster lights died and my fuel meter slowly died. my hazards work though and when i start the car the battery light goes on and off (like it should). so yeah, i got no idea what it could be. any help would do great

what bumper did you swap for? pinched wire by chance? caused a short? have you tried to put the old one back in? may have fried something in the cluster itself? take a volt meter to the pigtail and check for voltage at the pigtails, try to correspond them with the various items, left turn, right turn, e brake, high beam, headlights etc.
well it had a 89 bumper and support in. so i swapped the 91 bumper and support. pinched wires, im pretty sure i didnt there was good clearance but ill definitely look into it. how would putting the old one back help? i dont have a volt meter but i will try to borrow someones haha. thanks for the reply

ya i hope its just a fuse. both of the clusters didnt work when i hooked em up. when i turn the ignition to accessories, the battery icon lights up. nothing else though.
i just remembered, when i bought the car the the left bumper light bulb harness had been cut off with no tape blocking it off. i totally forgot the wire was just sitting there. i guess the wire got wet and shorted out. hopefully this is the problem
