Default for OEM exhaust

Sorry for stupid title..
I was wondering where can I score OEM exhaust?

Just following up with few questions.

1. I currently have 2.25" piping with stupid 5zigen
muffler.. will I need the whole piping from OEM or
can I just get the muffler part?
The car came with the 5zigen muffler.

2. Is EX, LX, DX, all other trim levels share the same
exhaust as Si? or did we have different exhaust
specs than others?

3. I assume new ones are costing about 450 or so,
so I'm looking to get used set if possible.
Any good source? I've been trying to look into few
private sales forums on Honda-Tech and
few other websites like Craigslist, but no luck so far.

In the same boat as you. Your best bet might be to just go down to a muffler shop and have them bend you a new one. Weld up a new muffler from Autozone or whatever and roll with that.

1. Just get a stock muffler and have it welded to your 2.25" piping.

2. What year civic?

3. I'd just buy an OEM muffler from Honda (just the muffler section), or go to the auto parts store and get an OEM spec muffler. If you go the auto parts store route, paint the muffler (except maybe the tip) with somewhat high temp paint to protect it from rust.

this is 00' EM1.

I wonder how much it cost @ the Honda dealership for the OEm muffler section.
if I were to get one, though, would I be just welding it up on the 2.25" piping
that i currently have?

Also, what's the stock piping size for Si?

Stopped by Schucks today, asked them regarding about the
muffler part that could be similar to OEM.

The guy behind the counter said, they do carry one, however
it won't be identically same to OEM, which I didn't expect it to
be @ all to begin with. However, I asked him how quiet they
are, and the spec regarding about piping size and gasket use.

Basically, the guy has no friggin idea what he's talking about,
and when I asked him regarding about return / refund policy
for the muffler, he said the muffler will have to be welded on,
so refund / return is not likely to happen after the point of purchase.

Anyone have experience with the exhaust from those auto shops?

I'm planning to visit Honda dealership on coming monday to
check out the pricing and what not. Dropped few words to my
friends regarding about searching junk yards for the exhaust part.

At first, after research on Honda-Tech, I was somewhat determined
to get any OEM catback from 96-00 Coupe models, but it seems like
Si catbacks come with chrome / polish tip, which I would really like
to have.

P.S.
Si's OEM piping size is 2". I currently have 2.25"
if I were to purchase the OEM muffler section and weld it up,
how much of "bottle neck"ing will I be having?
will .25" cause any problem or sound?

Picked up an OEM replacement muffler at Checker for ~$55.
Then ordered a cat and a resonator section for $195 shipped out here to Hawaii. All I have to do is get the cat welded to the resonator section and a flange welded to the other side of the cat to bolt up to the header. For around $250 I'll be back to stock exhaust.

I recommend painting the muffler with some rustoleum spray paint or similar, if you aren't already planning on it. I've heard about aftermarket OEM replacements rusting out, so that should help to prevent it.

I have stopped by few.
Midas was a close one from my work place, however..
They're more into installing aftermarket exhaust/muffler such
as flowmaster and others, and quoted me 400~500$ for
OEM replacement.

This whole incident drove me to be here looking for advices, really.

Don't take this the wrong way, but if you spend $242 on an OEM muffler I'm going to hunt you down and bitch slap you.

check my post right above the one where you said you went to the dealer. Links, part numbers, everything. Just gotta order it, take everything down to an exhaust shop and have them hook it up for you. Piece of cake once you get all the parts.
With labor you're looking at $300-350 (depending on what the shop will charge you)

WS2 sound REALLY good, and they're very reasonably priced. They're only slightly louder than OEM.

That said, I got an exact OEM replacement resonated B-pipe (the middle section) for my old accord from O'Reilley's for about $110 with all of the donuts, gaskets, and the flexpipe. It bolted up perfectly to the stock cat and axleback. It took them about 3 days to order it in. I'm almost sure they carry civic exhaust stuff too.

I would check them out if you have one in your area.

WS2 is quiet but it definitely doesn't sound like OEM. lol
quiet while cruising, but when you hit the gas pedal hard and get in those high RPMs, the exhaust screams. I like it though... it's not a rumble like the fart cans, it's literally a scream like a race car.

I have already stopped by the dealership for the quote on OEM axle back
It cost about 250$ after tax and what not. Putting on won't be that big
of a deal to me, just looking around to see if I can purchase the OEM ones
for cheaper price that are used.
