Ok, the "how" and the "why" aren't important at this time, but suffice it to say, my block/head are both toasted. The tranny is great, the sensors/everything else on the car are mint.
I'm looking at a few things... my one big option is to buy a K20A Type R without the tranny or header.
After searching, I could not find a thread where it spelled out what all is needed in simply placing a K20A into a Type S. What needs to be modified? What can I save? What do I need.
My second option is just finding a good used K20A2 and placing that in there... I do have a few dollars, and I know that the A2 is always more economical, but for giggles, let's say I bought the K20A. Where do I start, and how long will it take me to put the new one in and take the old one out? LOL
By the way, does anyone know of any good deals on a K20A or an A2 around Ohio? (I pay cash) w00t.
Thanks!

Yeah, I'm not really that interested in the K24... I know that it is a VERY good option though.
I'm more looking into the K20A, because I know quite a few ***** around here that would pay a premium for my car if it had the R spec motor in it. It's all for the resale. lol
Anyway, has anyone done this swap? Type R for a Type S?

No, I did not miss-shift.... but at least you got your post count +1 right?
Okay, apparently, this is entirely the wrong forum to ask this in... perhaps if I'd have posted pics of my car and asked if I needed to "slam it y0!" I'd have gotten better response.
I'm buying a K20A, I'm swapping it in, I'll figure it out, and I won't tell Honda-Tech how to do it.
God I miss the old site.
I dont have the experience to back it up just yet, but i Think it should drop right in.
I WILL know on wednesday or Thursday what all is involved. I'm swaping in a K20A into a 02 RSX-S. The guy already has the whole swap. His tranny went out and he was ready for another engine to build up. He figured that the K20A would be the best bet, so het got the whole deal, ECU and everything else.
I've already been over to his house to prep the engine and dropped of my tools. I will take pics for sure but may not post up to many cuz my comp. is very slow. I'll kepp you posted.

its a direct swap i did it in my ep all plugs but one were the same the only thing is no emissions
get kpro if you dont already have it

get kpro if you dont already have it
^He already stated that he didn't want the K24, that point is dead.
Is getting the engine rebuilt THAT much more expensive? I am asking because it would be interesting to know.

Why don't you just take out your block and build it? For the price of you buying a new block you'll have a built block which would be much better than a k20a for an R. Guessing you can't because its a daily car and you want least downtime?
OP relax man... and btw its a direct swap except for one plug... get KPRO!

EP4Life... it looks like it may be a nightmare finding a K20A2 or K20A longblock.

I called Hmotors... the guys I've been using for 7 or so years now, and they won't separate one up for me... and I've dropped over 10,000 on them over the years and given them tons of business. lol. I can't blame them though, they're good guys, but the demand for the complete swap must be intense.
Its a direct bolt on. I have a complete 05 K20A on my 03 type-s, everything is the same just the charge harness on the type-r is tad shorter, you have to extend it, so use the type-s charge harness instead. Picked up my motor from Hmotors as well, good shop, they have alot of k20a in stock. My motor only had 6k when I picked it up.
There's no story, I'm an adult with a question, and these nice folks are answering it.
