You want a 195/55-15, not 195/50-15.

Stickied at the top of this forum is a topic:

It says:

Which tires should I get?

This depends on what you're looking to get out of the tire. If you're still not sure what to get after reading the above information , make a new topic and tell us what you intend to use it for. In that topic, make sure to answer the following questions:

- What kind of car you have (year, model, version)
- What size wheels you have
- How the tires will be used (daily driving, auto cross/track/drag strip)
- What kind of weather the tires will be used in (dry, rain, snow)
- What your preferences is in the trade-off between value (low purchase price and/or long tread life) vs performance

-wheels will be 15x6.5
-tires will be used for daily driving(wanting to get some "spirited driving" in too)
-will be used in dry weather and rain

Because that's smaller in diameter than the stock tires for your car. Smaller tires will throw off the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer. They will also make your gearing slightly shorter, which will hurt fuel mileage slightly (although it will help acceleration slightly).

That's mostly on older Civics, which came with smaller stock tires from the factory, so it's the right size for those cars, not for yours.

Also, I've seen a lot of people do things that don't make any sense, so don't just do something because other people do it. I've seen people do all kinds of stuff - use the wrong size tires, mismatched tires, drive around with missing lug nuts, drive around with their tire pressure WAY low or WAY high, etc.

But it's your car and you can do whatever you want with it, whether it makes any sense or just has downsides.

You can trade off grip around sharp turns against treadwear. If you want tires with the maximum grip on dry pavement, grip fairly well in rain, and last you oh, maybe 15K miles, then get the Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec, $81.50/tire with free shipping after $50 rebate, from Discount Tire Direct. If you want tires that will last longer (25-40K miles) and grip even better in rain, but don't grip as well on dry pavement (still very good, but not as sticky as the Dunlop), then get the Yokohama S.drive in 195/55-15, $71/tire plus shipping from the Tire Rack.

ok i understand what you mean about it throwing my speedometer off slightly, im really not too worried about that. the only reason that i was thinking about going with a 50 instead of a 55 is because when i turn my tires are rubbing my fender liners. if it were a smaller diameter tire wouldnt that keep it from rubbing them

Maybe, but that's not the cause of the problem. Rubbing is a function of (a) the positioning of the wheels and tires (what the offset and lowering determines), and (b) the size of the tires. 205/45-16 tires should not rub on a 2000 Civic. If you're rubbing with that tire size, that means either (a) your car is lowered too much to allow clearance (you should be able to use that size with lowering up to 2" without rubbing), and/or (b) your wheels have the wrong offset, i.e. a different offset will position the wheels/tires for maximum clearance and won't rub. Using undersized tires doesn't fix either problem; you're just dealing with the symptom instead of fixing the cause of the problem. If your car is lowered more than 2", then raise it up a bit. If your wheels have the wrong offset so they're rubbing on the inside, you can get spacers (and, if necessary, extended lugs) to push them out away from the car. If your wheels have the wrong offset so they're rubbing on the outside, get different wheels.

the car i lowered about 3 inches so far
offset is 40, which is ideal for a honda.
