H23A1 Not running with out foot on pedal??? please help
Ok I have a 93 prelude with the H23A1 non-vtec in it and I am having some problems. I'm worried that I might have bent some valves but don't know yet. When I bought it pulley bolt had backed out and the car still ran it ran when I bought it until tried to take home. Once got it home and looked the keystop that goes on the crank between the crank pulley ballencer pully and timing pulley had backed out. I set cams back to tdc and rotated engine around till tdc on compression stroke and then put timing belt back on and balancer pulley. I made my own keystop which holds great but when started car it won't run with out my foot on the gas alittle and never gets above about 600 rpms with that and is extremely rough. So I reset timing again and made sure distributor was set at number one plug wire and reinstalled and tried again and still the same. I am worried that might have bent a valve or valves but removed spark plugs and all are dry and in good shape none seem to have any oil like blown rings or a hole in a piston. Is there an easy answer, like someone giving me another way with out pulling every thing off and checking valves or if some one knows that I have let me know so I can go on with the build just wanted to have running while got parts for the build.
this is killing me so any input and help would be awsome thanks to all that do help

do a compression test
if you get good compression...your timing is most likely still off
oh and did align the flywheel to the marker to check tdc?

Bought a compression gauge today and am going to check in the morning and let you all know. I got it like I said and I took it apart and checked and realigned the timing today and it got above 1000 rpm but wouldn't stay running and then was extremely rough and could hear slight tinging and popping from exhaust like a bent valve letting the gas when ignited shoot straight out the exhaust.
one of your cylinders might have failed deff do the compression test watch out for #3 hs worst cylinder also on my old h22 the exhaust valves were bent making it barely run and sounded like a fully built motor camd lol.probably the valves

Ok sorry took me so long don't have pics just bought a head and installed it. I am also changing out the crankshaft but am having problems removing it. I am trying to do it with the engine in the car. I have done searches and have found some help but am still having problems. I have the oil pump off and am having problems with the passenger side of the engine where tranny hooks up. I have the drive plate unbolted from the torque converter but still needing to get off of the crank how do I get to the bolts that attach the drive plate to the crank. If someone has pics of this it would help me out great.
