Default Drivetrain Help

I installed a chipped p28 and I was testing out the two step, when I dumped the clutch at 6000rpm I heard a bang and thought it was either my tranny or the clutch. So I installed a new clutch, pp, tranny, and it still does the same thing. I then swapped out both the axle's and still the same thing. Now here's the problem, everytime I take the tranny out and put it all back together it work's when I test it out on the driveway, but when I pull out and get ready to go it seem's something slip's I hear metal grinding and the car go's nowhere. The engine run's perfect, I can put it in all gear's, but when I let off the clutch I hear like a whining sound and the engine doesn't stall, it seems to be in neutral. My mph gauge goe's up but the car doesnt move. What do you guy's think is the problem? Only other thing I can think of is the half shaft or the flywheel.

what kind of chip is it?

i think you might have torn up something inside the transmission when you dumped it at 6000RPM.

I got the chip from a fella friend, but put my own program into it. The flywheel has been resurfaced about 1000 mile's back, im thinking either flywheel or half shaft(intermitiate shaft). That s the only other thing's I havent changed out.

sounds like the clutch isn't engaging, if its a hydro tranny it could need more clutch fluid/ or the master slave cylinder not working when you swaped trannys with your friend did you switch both cylinders?

if the clutch werent engaging, the MPH wouldnt change. im thinking you might have chewed up the teeth in the hub. allowing one(or possibly both) halfshafts to spin when you try and go.

i mean lets see what weve eliminated, tranny is good. its been in another car and works fine. clutch, and flywheel are good. the problem is not IN or BEFORE the tranny. you say the halfshafts are new. that leaves the hubs. although ive never heard of this happening, thats the only place i think is left. that would definitely give you a grinding sound, and the NO-GO condition.

now not to say you dont know what you are talking about BUT all that eliminating is done ASSUMING that you do know what you are talking about. and since thats all we have to go on........thats the best we can do. BTW it does sound like you have a pretty good grasp on what you are talking about.

but i am a bit confused.....in your first post you said you changed out both axles(AKA halfshafts im assuming cuz i cant think of anything else you would be talking about). but then in another post you said the only thing you can think of is "either flywheel or half shaft(intermitiate shaft). "

so just to clarify, are the halfshafts good or not?

yeah, both the axle's have been changed, they are both reman's from my work place, but the intermitiate shaft that connect's the driver axle to the tranny hasn't. Question, can that intermitiate shaft cause this to happen?

The hub on both side's look good the last time I looked at it. Umm. on these car's isn't only the passenger side getting the power to the wheel?

OOOHHHHHHHHH ok, i see what you are saying, yeah that sounds like your problem. inspect that intermediate shaft and it will probably have a torn up CV joint. to answer your question, no the passenger tire isnt the only one that gets power. but it is the only one that will spin......given equal conditions. the power always goes thru the path of least resistance. so your busted CV joint has the least resistance, thats where all the power goes.

Sounds more like you just didnt but the axles in good enough. Try pushing in the axles (at the tranny side) just a little more. By the way you cant just hit the end of the axle expecting it to go in you must only use the ends that connect to the tranny/dif. Its happened to me before, exact same thing your describing.
