what to do??
Ok honda tech this site is pretty new 2 me but I need sum help I had as d16y7 n put the y8 head on. So I'm on the hiway on the way 2 long island n there is a scion tc bhind me so I switch lanes n he jus wanna mess around so I floor it n about 80 vtec pops n it felt like it wasn't goin newhere so I take my foot off the gas n floor it again n vtec pops again n I heard a ratling noise n my car shut off. mind u my car is auto 4 now I was gettin an si tranny. So I get towed bak 2 my boys crib n started fixin it there. So I get the motor out n put in a d15b2 block so now I put the block in and was gettin ready 2 bolt the head down n found out 8 of the 10 head bolts had heli coils so I jus got new helicoils n I'm auctually on my way now 2 my boys how 2 put them in.. The motor is only temporary about 3 to 4 weeks till I get a b20. Now here's the question since the head wasn't boltesd down all the way it wouldn't start now it wouldn't start due 2 what? I was thinking maybe no compression in the cyl. And the d15b2 block dosnt have a water temp sensor. I bought a aftermarket guage n don't no whea 2 put it in.. Has ne1 done a d15b2 y8 swap b4.. And will the car last me that amound of time with me not beating on it?? All help is greatley appreciated.. Bump if viewed once again thx honda tech 4 all upcomming help

I'd guess the same thing, no compression, so it can't start. I don't understand why you tried to start it anyway...
VTEC doesn't "pop," it engages. Don't say that, please.
P.S. numbers are not words.

Re: what to do??
If you do it right it will last a month, however neither you nor your boys appear to have enough experience working on Hondas the way Honda manuals recommend you do. So chances are the motor won't last long enough.
If the head isn't bolted down and you try to start it, you could suck coolant into the cylinder and break all sorts of **** including but not limited to: bearings, ringlands (pistons), rings, rods, and HG. One thing you need to do is make sure you have the proper timing belt. Going from a D16 to a D15 will require a shorter timing belt, or you'll really mess up the ignition and cam timing. That alone could keep it from starting. However, little to no compression is more than enough to prevent any startup.
