Wtf, is a 1998 Ex o2 sensor really different than a 1999 Ex O2 sensor?!?!?
So, I just bought an o2 sensor online made for a 92-00 Civic.
HOWEVER, in my haste to get my car running, I STUPIDLY dismissed reading the more detailed applications, assuming that if it fit the OBDI 92-95's, and the 96-98 OBDII ex's, it would fit the 99-00 OBII ex's.
Here is some detail about the application of the one I am stuck with:
93-00 Honda Civic CX, 2-Door, 3 Door, California Models Only, 4 Door, California Model, Automatic Transmission, Manual Transmission
92-00 Honda Civic DX, 2-Door, 3 Door, 4 Door, Automatic Transmission, Manual Transmission
92-98 Honda Civic EX, 2-Door, 4 Door, California Models, 4 Door, Except California Models, Automatic Transmission, Manual Transmission
99-00 Honda Civic GX
96-00 Honda Civic HX, Automatic Transmission
92-00 Honda Civic LX, 2-Door, 4 Door, Automatic Transmission, Manual Transmission
92-95 Honda Civic Si
93-95 Honda Civic VX, 2-Door, 3 Door, California Models Only, 4 Door, California Model
Anyone know what is different about these primary o2 sensors?
Is it the harness?
or something different about the voltage output to measure the o2 concentration in the exhaust?
And what is a GX?
Thanks in advance!

99+ is obd2b
96-98 is obd2a
the plugs are in different locations in the ecu. it's minor but with an o2 sensor it makes a difference

Often its just the length of the harness on the O2 sensor itself, most OBD1 and OBD2 civic and Integra O2 sensors function the same way. Its only the single wire and 5 wire versions that are truly different.
6th gen civic sedan (available from '98 - '00 IIRC) that runs on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) I believe they were only sold as fleet vehicles.

So, should this work?
I could see how this would be a problem if I would swapping ecu's, but I am not.
Just got the 98 ex OEM denso replacement in the mail.
It is very different indeed from the 99 ex.
The 98 ex sensor has a longer pig tail and a male harness.
The 99 ex sensor has a female harness and is obviously shorter.
Also, the wire colors are different.
99ex OEM; green, white, and the two black heater wires
98 ex Denso; blue, white, and two black heater wires
grrrr........
