Dumb question! Resonator.
Well i have a 97 Ej8 with a GSR swap. Running a AEM short ram intake with BLOX velocity stack and filter, japan header and a full catback with a ES tuning muffler 2.5". My question is should i take of my resonator or not? Will i gain anything besides noise. Its pretty quite as it is right now but was wondering if maybe the resonator holds it back somehow? TIA
i can't see you getting any realistic gains by removing the resonated testpipe and replacing it with a non-resonated testpipe. just leave it on there for now
well the resonator was a welded after market one. So if i remoe it its going to be straight pipe there, except for the highflow cat thats on. Its not a test pipe.
If you poke around the dyno thread in the all motor forum, you'll find varying gains between open header and full exhaust. Some motors gain as little as little as 1whp by running an open header. So many other factors play into your ultimate gain, it's hard to say, but I don't think you're looking at a noticeable power difference. A noticeable sound difference, definitely. .
