stolen motor found in a different vehicle...
several months ago, i had my beloved 01-0834 stolen from me in southern california. insurance settlement was absolute bs and i did not get nearly as much money as i should have from state farm(they use the nada guide). since then, i have stopped thinking about my loss and have moved on with my life, until today.
i'm currently in korea visiting my parents, but i received an interesting email from my sister about my motor and transmission being recovered in a different vehicle as stated by rancho cucamonga chp. since state farm took over the ownership of my vehicle, the california highway patrol informed them about the recovery of the motor and tranny. state farm decided to reply to them and forward a reply letter to me as well stating, "upon review of our options, the recovery of the engine and transmission do not appear economically feasible. therefore, we are releasing our interest in the engine and transmission." when i read this, i thought to myself, maybe i can talk to state farm and convince them to release the parts to me so that i can obtain it and put it to good use. if anyone could give me any insight on this matter, i'd highly appreciate it.
oh yea, one more thing. they stated that my engine number was b18c6... anyone care to explain? to the best of my knowledge this is a usdm pyr which i had purchased back in 2002 in chicago, il.

Well more likely the car with the stolen motor is going to get crushed.

Best of luck. You may want to contact the CHP, but more likley cause you was paid out and state farm owns the parts it going bye bye.
And as for the B18C6 it a typo. They are not going to proof read everything. It's done and over with. Insurance company has alot of other things to deal with.

Same thing happen to my brother. His EM1 si was stolen and a couple of months later they found it in another car. Those guys was arrested and they asked if we wanted to pick up the motor, but since it was totalled out by state farm, we decided to pass it up.
you should definately call them and try to get it back........what do you have to loose?
and for the guy above you passed on a free em1 swap wtf?

^maybe it wasn't free in your case but it sounds like his is different, sounds to me like the insurance company doesn't care about getting the swap back......

When I got my car back I got the motor, shell, seats, trans, and everything that was not stolen for 1200 bucks. It was a damn good deal to me, therefore I rebuilt. I would see what the price is at the very least. Even if you can't afford the 1000 bucks to buy the stuff back, maybe hook up some ITR brother with it.
