im in the process of doing a new key and lock set and i need to remove my steering wheel lock for now. what is the best way to do so??

 

use a small dermal tool to cut slashes in the head.then you can use a flat head to get them out.

 

isnt it just the metal band the wraps around the steering rod or am i looking at the wrong part?

 

or does the metal band contain the locks inside of it?

well, i would assume that you would have to take off those headless bolts on it, and slide it off. the key cylinder has all the pins in it... and if you just cut the band, you gotta replace it. i have a steering column in my garage that I am gonna try and take apart tomorrow, i will let you know how it goes.
