in need of some major help
alright so today i picked up a 96 coupe with a ls swap and gsr trans and well all seemed nice and well its pretty quick shifts good till we got the car half way back to jersey she started to spit and studder from 2,000-3,000 rpm and apon a closer look the wire harness is chopped to all hell this *** hole has a speaker wire hooked up to the cluster also i later found out its a manual convert used to be a auto and then the header broke free from the exhaust theres like a 4 inch gap between where they should bolt up and they tried tack welding a pipe in between also it has a prelude interior which the back seats wont mount up and only the front left and rear right of the front seats mount up and last but not least this guy was in the middle of a power window convert one sides done just needs switches other side not even started umm i know its alot to ask but again i took on a bit more of a project then i was expecting and was hoping anyone has any ideas where i can start to fix all this
sounds worth it to me with a little tlc, but i won't vote till we here the mileage. About the prelude seats that is really easy to mount those the front you can drill the hole out wider and put some big washers on, the back you can do even easier with a small piece of angle iron and the right size drill bit pm me and i can give you pics should take less than an hour start to finish. But whatever you do don't drive with just two bolts in there, that is just stupidity at it's finest.
the miles are 130,000 on the shell and the guy said the motor had about 120,000 on it besides the little studder and needing to bleed the brakes and clutch she runs like a champ

It's a poor daily driver because you've already said the car needs a fair amount of work in order to be a suitable daily driver.
A good daily driver should need minimal work in order to drive comfortably and safely down the road.
So make a list of the issues. Then start fixing them one by one. Here's what I gathered from your post, but I'm sure you'll find more.
Please post photos if you can. This will help others make repair suggestions.
Tear out the speaker wiring he's incorrectly installed. It sounds like it's doing more harm than good.
If there's a way to properly install the front seats, do that. If not, replace them. I'd remove the rear seats for now. If they're just bumping around back there they're a hazard. Get them out until you're prepared to make them fit, or get some stock replacements.
Fix the exhaust. I don't know how bad it is, but you should be able to get it done at an exhaust shop.
Get a replacement wire harness(es?) and install them. I'm not sure which ones are damaged.
Then of course you have your maintenance you mentioned (clutch, brake bleed, etc.).
The power door/power window deal sounds like it's the least important of the issues so far. I'd fix the other stuff first, then look into getting a power door conversion for the other side. EX and Si coupe parts will fit. Sedan parts will not.

sounds like the guy snuck one past you.I bought an auto converted to manuel .Great daily driver . But it wasnt a hack job.GL sounds like a good project to start , could turn into a good dailey .
The Sputtering at low RPMs is more than likely due to the lack of back pressure caused by the gap in the exhaust. the speaker wire to the instrument cluster might be there for lighting purposes, i have seen this many times after aftermarket clusters were taken out. I agree with NOFX take out the back seat for now and fix the front seats.
But over all i think if theres no body damage, and depending on which wires are beat up i think 1800 is worth it.
Good luck and if you have any questions just ask!

its no problem that its a auto manual conversion. I just converted my car and its perfectly fine.
I agree though, take out the back seats bceause if they arent tied down thats a major safety hazard.
Sputtering @ low RPM can be because of the exhaust, or you need new plugs/wires. My car was sputtering @ low rpm last week, I changed the plugs and it went away.
Its def worth the $1800. With a little TLC you can fix it up into a great car.
