How to get the spring out
How to take the spring out from the shock, any easy way,the shop i know they use a compressor machine to get it out,do i need to buy that too or is there a alternative.
the easy/free (and safe) way:
before you unbolt the shock from the car in any way, take a jack and jack up the lower control arm while the car is already on jack stands. this will push the top of the piston up and you can remove easily the nut on the shock piston with an impact gun.
slowly let the jack down and your spring will be free from the shock.
now proceed to unbolt the shock from the car like normal, except leave the shock/strut mount (where the shock bolts to the shock tower) bolted to the car.
when you put the shock/spring back in the car, make sure to line up the top of the spring with the indentation in the rubber seat on the shock mount so that the spring sits securely. the rubber insert can be turned as needed. push down on the LCA with your hand and bolt the lower part of the shock into place.
then jack up the lower control arm while guiding the shock/spring into place. Carefully jack the LCA up just enough so that the threads on the shock piston are above the strut mount just enough to put the nut on all the way.
Put the piston nut and other hardware on, but this time use hand tools, not air tools.
this method will work on all 4 corners. i have found it to work great.
just be extra careful when putting the new stuff on, you don't want to damage it.
if you are lowering the car, you should get new strut boots from KYB (the boots compress) because the stock ones will likely rub metal on metal and squeak over bumps.

Just go out and buy a spring compressor. Something like this:

I've done this a few different times without a spring compressor. If you have a Table Vice that opens up wide enough put it in there, wrap a towel around it, while you compress the spring have someone zip off the nut real quick.
