AEM FPR good enough? Or upgrade?
Ok guys. Im very close to taking my car to be tuned. Ive got a walbro 255 stacked with a bosch 044 under the hood. Just dont want any surprises, cause I will be pretty far away from the house. Will be looking for close to 550whp on E85. Is the AEM FPR gonna be able to keep up? Or should I just buy an aeromotive.. or other brand?
My setup:
gt3528r
bosch 1000's
golden eagle fuel rail
bosch 044/walbro 255
ls/vtec 81.5, 9:1cr
pro1 cams
skunk2 pro IM
Thanks,

Are you going to be running your system at 100psi base? I will have the same fuel system as you soon and I am ditching my AEM FPR for either a Weldon or Aeromotive Pro-Series, a hunch tells me the AEM is not up to the task of 135psi of fuel pressure.
Im thinking mid 70's base fuel press. Cause I should be running 20-25psi boost to get my goal..
edit: I would love to do a weldon since I hear good stuff, but 3xx is kinda out of my price range.

Do you think 70psi base is enough to get 550hp out of those Injectors? They probably could but its going to be close.

I ended up getting rid of my AEM fpr for an aeromotive one because I had to remote mount it. Just something to think about should you run into space issues.

Its just a crazy design/placement of the turbo. Everything else is good.
The AEM had a lot of issues with the diaphragms leaking and rupturing.. I have no idea if the problem has been fixed, but I would switch over to an Aeromotive, or a Weldon, etc.. if you plan on relying heavily on your boost reference port on the regulator.
When I use AEM regulators, I just run 60-65 base fuel pressure and no vacuum line attached (for lower boost setups only).

"Ben,
Thank you for your inquiry – the -120 will be fine. However, if you believe you’ll increase your base pressure to anything over 110, I’d go with the -200. I’ve got both versions in stock or you can order through any one of my distributors listed on the website.
Thanks again,

The AEM regulator has worked great for me for 3 years or so. Im assuming you are talking about the larger remote regulator that is pictured below...thats what i use, there is another port on the opposite side and a port for the return on the bottom.
I emailed Weldon this question, I need to know too....

Wow, Thanks a million man. I already ordered the aeromotive, but Im gonna refuse it and send it back. So I went back & ordered the weldon one for 30-120psi. We'll see how it works!
This project is getting crazy.. Ill never be able to pop the hood now cause people will see all the high $$$ parts think I got a friggin Racecarr!!!11
Oh and tony. Ill be up that way soon!
SilverEK, I explained to him that I was going to be running 100psi base and probably 35-40psi of boost with a 1:1 Regulator, so I would have no worries about the -120
spoolinMatt, that is the same regulator I use, has held up great to E85 and gasoline for a few years now. I just feel that its going to take a crap on me when I crank up the base pressure to 100psi, nothing worse than showing up for a tune with the wrong parts on your car.
