Default High Beams independent from Low Beams?

90 EF sedan, anyone ever made their Highs independent from their lows? im asking because im getting some Luminics Yellow light bulbs and i only want them for high beams. The cops in my area always mess with me for some reason so i dont want to always have the yellow head lights goin.

so is this possible to pull the lever back and have the high beams stay on? or maybe hook up another switch directly to the high beams?

Stock Headlights+HIDs= a POS.
Way too much scattered/lost light.

worked just fine for me. the light output and dispersion is virtually the same as stock lights, simply brighter. and no people don't flash there brights at me. yes i agree projectors retrofitted would be better, i just don't feel like doing that. plus i don't like the way it looks on an ed/ef.

well i just tried it and it doesnt work. low beams on, turn on highs, turn switch back one time, lows and highs both turn off. im just going to hardware from the highs to battery with a switch and fuse.

you say you don't want the cops messing with you because of the yellow lowbeams.. but you want to rig up a switch so you can leave your highbeams on all the time. that doesn't make a lot of sense lol

yea i kind of contradicted myself haha.

i just ordered the 9005's (highs). i will rig the switch, put them in, see how they look just by themselves and see exactly how bright. This way, if i do get hassled by a cop, i can just turn the lows and and be done with it.

OR

i was going to trim the 9005 to fit into the 9006 (lows) and just use them that way. they wont be as bright in the low beam housing. well they will be bright, just not AS bad as a high beam.

hmmm...weird, its weird cause u just have to turn it a hair back from the on position kinda where it balances its self between the two, idk maybe just a fluke on my switch, but i like it, lol.

i might just get rid of the high beam all together and use it for city lighting or something. then i dont have to drill another hole, i can just use the hole thats there already.

i seriously never use them, i have fogs, and i wont need anymore lighting with 9005's as lows haha

haha ok im going to try this now. but man i hope these "jdm yellow" (which sounds soooo stupid) are actually yellow, and not that weird off white that stock headlights are.

im assuming these things will be similar to jdm fogs, like the ones on older preludes or something. 28$ for a pair so i cant really go wrong.

Regardless, if you run HIDs on stock headlights you're a jackass....
Not only are you more prone to being pulled over because obviously they aren't factory HIDs but you're blinding everyone else on the road.

yea i was out there for a few minutes messing with it haha. and im at work so people were looking at me.

side note...has anyone done city lights on an EF? or better yet, anyone have pix? and can it work using the wiring from the high beam but just a different socket?

the reason i ask is because i dont use the highbeams, might as well put something there that i actually use.
