cel 22, low rpm
trying to solve a prob for a friend, car 95 gsr
Problem:
-cel 22 (vtec oil pressure switch)
-doesn't rev past 6800 (approx)
Already tested/fixed:
-wiring good, grounding good
-pressure switch replaced to brand new one
-replaced solenoid gasket/filter
-oil changed/up to level
-oil pump changed
i read bunch of other thread related to this issue, and can not find anything that could cause the problem. so far i think if the pressure sensor is working properly then its not getting enough pressure to engage.
could this be bad oil pump? since the oil pan is not damaged or anything. or are there any oil passages to solenoid that could be clogged or something?

Oil pump is obviously fine if you are getting 40lbs at idle. I would check into your dizzy. came shaft position sensor. It will cause this code. Swap dizzy with someone and see if the problem comes back. If not you got your awnser. If so let me know and ill get in depth with how to help you out.
i would replace dizz but its brand new, so i trust it at least for now.
the oil gauge is a glow shift brand, so it makes me wonder if it showing correct readings but i hope it does. another reason for bad oil pump, is the car been sitting for a while collecting dust so my first bet was the oil pump, but it wasn't high priority before i check all the little stuff.
i tried constructing a oil pressure tool for an air compressor gague but it doesn't show any reading, only if i apply air. i saw one gauge at sears that says for air/oil pressure, so ill try that, if i get it to work and measure the pressure at the solenoid that will put me in the right track

got the oil gauge and checked oil pressure at the solenoid (in place of a pressure switch)

Results:
-no reading, no oil coming up the tube
-i disconnected the tube at the gauge and oil started flowing; but not as fast as it should at 40psi
also when i took off the pressure switch there was no oil coming out, but sensor was covered in oil
