Is the hole stripped or is the bolt stuck in the block stripped. If just the hole is stripped re-tap it. If the bolt is stripped in the block get a flat head screw driver and pry the bolt and you turn the bolt out.

the bolt head is stripped. How would i "pry the bolt" the head of it is flush with the block, there is no where to get any leverage or anything. the motor is still in the car. I'm sure ill figure something out i just need to grab the SOB and go for it.

is your lower timing belt cover off? if it is you should be able to use a vise grip

good call dude, i didnt try that. My other problem is that i still have the stupid motor mount on there so my clearance is even more restricted. This weekend im going to give it another go and im trying this for sure.

my **** will finally be running.. dc2 with ls/vtec has been sitting since september, blown head and warped CTR cams :-( so i had to go with GSR cams but i havent been able to drive it since i replaced the head.

Also, try a six point socket if you haven't yet. If there is any shape left to the bolt head you have a better chance grabbing it this way.

If that doesn't work i would try the vise-grip as suggested.

hmm i cant remember what type of socket i have using, i know its a 14mm bolt head. the bolt is on extremely tight for some reason, i havent touched the timing since i've had the car but goddamn.

the reason that its not out is due to the fact that the belt is brand new. the guy i got the car from did the timing a couple months before i got it. then shortly after, the ex blew the head. the timing belt is perfect, no tears or fraying anywhere, the teeth are still good too.

but i know what you mean, i know i need to replace it. i just wanted to make sure the car started, THEN ill try to mess with the tensioner.

it started up fine, belt was wiggling and rattling against the belt cover, then i opened the throttle and the car died cuz the timing belt slipped off.

well i would replace the belt just for safety. and you should be praying you didnt bend any valves when the belt slipped off...you basically have to redo your timing
