so i just wanted to ask if i need to be careful of anything when i take my valve cover off? i'm taking it out so i can get this broken bolt out of one of the holes. anything i need to be aware of?
You might want to put a new gasket on depending on how old your current one is. You might also want to put some hondabond in the corners of the gasket (where it goes over the cams) when you out the valve cover back on.
Do you have one of those magnetic 'grabber' things? You might be able to get the bolt out without taking off your valve cover.

I would just replace the valve cover gasket if you haven't done so 90% of the times the rubber is dried up and cracking and once you remove it its more prone to leaks otherwise it should be pretty easy and should be straight forward

no. dont paint your valve cover have it poweder coated or if u really have to spray it use wrinkle BLACK or RED paint.. keep it OEM looking.
and always replace the gasket unless you want a mess on your motor. just take your time its very easy to take off a valve cover, keep in mind when putting it back do not over tighten the nuts it will cause a leak. you do not have to put any hondabond or silicone the gasket alone will be fine.

Yeah go to Honda and order the oem gasket, and cover up the head so crap won't fall into it while the valve cover is off.

I'd recommend getting the valve cover gasket set from the dealer. It comes with the valve cover gasket, 4 sparkplug gasket O rings, and new washers for the valve cover. I believe the last time I bought the set, it came out to just under $40. I know prostreetonline sells a kit, which is not OEM, but I ordered it once and it worked fine. You can tell that OEM is higher quality though... You don't "have" to use hondabond, but its recommended...and you won't have to worry about leaks. You can also use other gasket sealer stuff that you can pick up at autozone/kragen/etc.
for ****s sake get a gasket is a gasket their both rubber. autozone gasket does the same ****. and you dont need to put silicone or hondabond. ur a dumbass if u dont know how to properly torque the nuts and start from the middle out. you can use all the oem parts u want if u dont install it properly then u have a high chance dripping a tiny tad of oil

well, i haven't really touched my engine much, but i guess i'll start from the top down i guess. So i'll jsut get to the dealership and get the whole VC gasket set, since i ahve a buddy (discount FTW). where do i apply the hondabond?
i've never seen such a contraversy over changing a valve cover gasket. and noone even mentiond spark plug o rings either. paint your valve cover... no don't paint it. to honda bond, or not to honda bond? oem honda, or autozone gasket??? IT DOES THE SAME ****ING THING!!!!!!!!!!! and if you feel the urge to paint it, PAINT IT!! WHO CARES! if you have the extra couple bucks for honda bond, use it, if not, i'm sure itll be just fine man. next someone will find a diy video on youtube for this ****. lol.
