sorry I don't know if Dave at SMSP has a webs site yet
I've talked to alot of different people at races and I've heard of so many others that make headers. I've never seen or been able to get good contact info on them.
Only once did I get info from Bisi (low 11 second all motor single cam). He used a place called Import Hook Ups out in Cali somewhere.

bisis now gets his stuff made by a guy in montclair, california. the shop is called Elite motorsports his name is randy, he makes all of bisi's stuff(header, carb intake manifold, rear-end, roll cage, he does really good work. i have one of his headers and it rips, it will perform just as well as the ones from hy-tech

This is all fine, but I hope some design effort went into these beside great workmanship. What I mean is, how did they decide on tube lengths and diameters? What rpm are these designed for?
Not saying they haven't done their homework, it's just that 99% of the "race" headers out there are marketing BS and very little scientific design...

alot of effort goes into Hytech's designs. Look at this header...notice its adjustable. I'm not the only tester out there...but i can tell you i tried not only different step designs...i tried different secondary lengths. I tried shortest version, 2" extensions, 4" extensions, 6" extensions, open header, muffler(which is under that megaphone in the pic)on end of header collected into 1, and i tried this megaphone...and i tried these D shaped primaries. I'm not going to divolge what worked best because John has collected alot of research and made the best he can at this time. Its not some generic piece. I love my Toda Products...but when you purchase nearly all the other headers out there....its a generic piece..yes..some much better then others.
btw...i will tell you that the megaphone worked real well and the step design he's using on his headers is a great combo. Also...its expensive *** stainless....not cheap poop and its not mild steel for sure. Also his welding is second to none.

what John and Dave use are old KNOWN info on designing headers.
There is NOT a correctly designed 4-2-1 header for a honda on the market other than theirs, PERIOD! Holley/Airmass might be close, need to go find one.
For a 180 degree header to work, the primarys must be paired in 180 degree CRANK rotation.......
with a firing order of 1-3-4-2 this means 1&3 along with 2&4 get paired. Now expand the firing order..........
1-3-4-2-1-3-4-2 and you see that 1&2 along with 3&4 can be paired with same results.
Worse thing is this info is almost 40 years old!

Apparently there are MANY copycats out there and it just pisses him off that he spent money out of his own posket to do R&D and some of his ideas were blatantly copied. Instead he decides to help the good guys who will in term help him, so the man takes time out from his daily business to build my racecar's exhaust system taking every motor spec into account. He sends me an incredible race exhaust system, I fall in love with it, then he tells me, oh throw that away, I have a new design now where I was able to get an EXTRA 15hp !!! now 15hp from an all motor car which is already pushing limits is unheard of ...
Also, feel free to check out his resume of the exhaust systems that he builds, it should be somewhere on his site ... i.e. he recently completed a Mclauren F1 project, that should say somethign by itself.
