How much do you want to spend and what type of racing are you trying to do?

With RS machine pistons yeah.

With forged pistons not so much. If you were using a aftermarket rod then wiseco, supertech, CP. Any of those would work well.

As for a cheap rod, I recommend scat rods. They are relatively cheap and require very little work to get balanced.

actually cant you just use the stock press wrist pin to put the piston on the rod. the piston is gonna slide back and forth on the pin no matter if its forged or cast. i still agree that if your gonna get forged pistons though the rods also.
also the forged rods will be better at keeping the big ends round than stock rods if the motors gonna see alot of high rpm, especially with the heavier 84mm pistons

Yeah, but $900+ may be a bit out of his price range.

So some rs machine pistons with scat rods. What compression is good for this set up? A friend of a friend works for arias and he said he could get me pistons and rods for 750. Is that a good deal?

thats a good deal,i just like the oem reliablility of cast pistons i guess. if your using stock sleeves your more likely to crack a sleeve than blow a ring land anyway even with cast pistons. quit a few people on here have used eagle/scat rods with rs/cast pistons

from RS machine as far as i know. Id look into the ITR pistons either USDM or JDM, cant remember if they sell both. The JDM will give you a little more compression

rs machine, last i checked, makes one dome in 84 and 84.5 that yeilds ~11.5:1 with a PR3 head, add 2 tenths to that for an unmilled P72.

thats the piston i would use if i were you, unless you want to drag the pockets out on a oem b20b piston and mill the **** out of your head.
