ultra light wheels.......how light is to light?
there is someone locally selling a set of ultralight 16" wheels that are around 10lbs each. (well he told me they are about 10lbs each)
would these be wat to light for street driving? or the lighter the better?
can anyone ID these wheels? i know their knockoffs of something but i dont know what.......
any comments on these?

If you use low profile tires with light wheels they tend to bend because of road conditions, like pot holes and stuff. For example the Mugen MF8 are very light but would require high proile tires for the reason above.

I have to disagree with IGGY here
i mean it all depends on wether the wheel is forged or cast.
If the wheel is cast then there is a point where the rim can be too light. Usually knock off wheels are cast copies of very strong forged rims. So rims like knock offs of Mugen MF-8s or MF-10s tend to bend when you hit deep pot holes and such.
However if the wheel is forged, like a Real Mugne MF-8 or MF-10 then you should have no problems. Those rims will basically not bend unless you really hit something and even then they might still be ok.
Forged Rims are extremely Strong, and therefore can be made light weight
Cast rims on the other hand are still strong, just not a strong, and when you start trying to make them incredibly light like 10LBS, then you're asking for nothing but problems
I think the lightest Cast Rims i would buy would be Kosei K-1s ... just because i trust them
Copies however i do not

I would not be concerned about bending forged wheels like the MF-8's. I would be very concerned about bending a set of cheap "ultra light" wheels though.

I`m running racing hart cp-035 forged wheels... are they okay ?
I tested them on the most difficult racetrack in the world and beat the **** out of the whole car... They did very well. No damage, strong brakes til the end.

I think all ADR wheels are casted. And if I remembered correctly, there was a member on this board who had his ADR wheels exploded on him while going over a pothole. So I would think twice about choosing ADR wheels.

actually, its not the lighteness of the rim that causes this.
its the fact they are, indeed, cast iron.

Iron rims? Bet ya they're cast aluminum.
they are or are just like the konig wheels, they could be rotas or some other company who gets their wheels made in the same place.
I do not believe these are bad wheels if they are infact a konig or rota wheel. If you are getting a good deal on them go ahead and buy. I dont think you are going to have any problems

Hehe
They are definately copies of Volk CE28N's. They look damn good too
I know the Volk CE28N's are forged, not sure about those though.

They are Konig Heliums and they are not forged so they are cast. The last time I checked konig didn't offer then in 16s or gunmetal so its probably painted and they don't weigh 10lbs...they weigh around 12lbs. I have them in bronze
