Default Srt-8 Jeep! Who has one? How are they?

I've been considering an fast nice comfortable suv for a daily driver. Also towing comes in mind too. So, I thought of a Jeep, which is 4 door and comfortable. 420hp and 420tq sounds enough for me. Wondering if they are AWD all times? How are they?

Looks expensive. Performance SUVs, doesn't make sense to me.

They're pretty damn quick, worked on a few, never had time to actually drive one tho.

its full time AWD but swings donuts like a muthafuka haha its the FASTEST SRT besides the viper... Its fun to drive, a bit bumpy in the rear like most jeeps. It gets HORRIBLE gas mileage only like 7-8 mpg in the city and like 14 on the hiway. New they were about 45-50k but You can get em pretty cheap now cause nobody cares for em just like all the other srt-8's

Is it true that they are 11-12 sec in a 1/4 mile? I cant find the actual fact about that yet. I don't do a lot of highway driving though.

Towing my Ef around to tracks and events. Do they make coilovers for this thing?

I heard something about one that goes to a local road course/track, I think they had referred to it has "Super Jeep". That and something about a guy wanting to do a huge $$$ list of mods to his WRX to keep up with it. These Jeeps are nuts as far as I know.

At first, I thought they had a Viper engine but after a little research, only a 6.1l Hemi engine the seems to make the Jeep move.

Some people say towing isn't a very good idea on those, but why not?

lol no, mid to high 13's depending on source.

the one you're thinking of might be tony hawk's modified srt10 jeep (viper motor iirc in it)

or one equipped with the 426 aka 7.0L stroker short blocks sold for around $5-10k depending on shop

these things still fetch like $35-40 k, and there is a dedicated following for these things (usally older guys with children to haul, and boats to tow. with wives that say no to sports cars Xd )

older suburban w/ a blown 454 might be fun.
pretty much they are about as fast as a crx with a stock gsr swapped into them,
but it's not bad for a huge truck/suv like that

Srt8 jeep can't tow anything... I needed something to tow the jetski's with so I got the Trailblazer ss...

Where you gonna put a hitch?

They are nice though!

I would go for the Trailblazer SS if you want that kind of vehicle. It has more utility, is less expensive, and the aftermarket for LSx engines is better than for the hemi.

I looked up some more on hitches, they do make one for the srt8 model. kinda in front of the exhaust but not by much.

+1 on the TB SS, SRT8's are nice but I'd trust the LS engine over the Hemi's and more aftermarket support as well

I'm not looking to do any mods whatsoever to it at all. Maybe just coil over kit, if there is any and some wheels. That is probably it.

I just like a fast awd all time suv type of idea. Also, enough power to haul my Ef around to tracks, auto-x events. It snows where I live every winter. 420hp and tq sounds good enough for me.

I'm wondering if they make coil-overs for this thing. It needs a drop, the rear is too high.
