Default Junkyard Turbo

Alright i've seen a few different models thrown around that you can strip turbos from. But im curious, what years would i have to be looking for?

The ones that i know of are Volvo's(dont know years) and 1st, 2nd gen Eclipse's.

I also know you can use an intercooler off of a Starion but those arent really easy to come by, at least where i've been looking.

If anyone has any info regarding turbo related parts, and the types of vehicles they come off of, please post here.

thanks

for my case, d16a6....i was at pick a part yesterday and i was looking for Volvos, then when i see just how many there are, i didnt know what to look for. i found one with a turbo in it but it was really small. like 4 inches in diameter or so.

as far as homemadeturbo, its cool but they dont show what years the turbo's are from. correct me if im wrong.

i will definitely check that out. This weekend my local pick a part is having its 50% off everything sale. its gonna be busy as **** but oh well.

is that an internal or external wastegate turbo? im looking for internal so i can save a little bit of money. Either way, any good intercoolers out there? doesnt the dodge sprint have one?

for your motor id get a hy35 it has a smaller exhaust housing and is capable of 400whp+ and comes with an internal wastegate as does the hx 35 but the hx 35 has a larger hotside and spool would suffer

Volvo 850 Turbos came with TD04HL-15G's. If you're just looking for a little over 200bhp, then that turbo should work well for you.

or a t3 off of any turbocoupe t-bird is a good turbo for 200-275whp and in my opinion the best junkyard turbo for less than 300whp

and its t3 flanged much easier to get a manifold for it than any of the mitsubishi turbo's
and if i was to get a mitsubishi turbo it would be off of an evo thats the only one i would look for

haha yea i'll just find an evo at the junk yard!! I still have NEVER seen a DC2 at a junk yard or pick a part. which is since they've been around since 94.

but yea i've heard alot about the T3's and since its from an american car, i should be able to find it no problem.

hey you guys might know this, off topic but im curious. can you put 90-91 hatch corner lights on a 90-91 ef sedan? i cant find ambers that are made for 90-91 sedan.

For a D series, you have a lot of options. Anything from the 14b off an Eclipse, a 16g off an Evo or whichever turbo comes from the SR20. I have friends with each of those setups. Personally, i think the SR20 turbo is the most fun on a Z6. It spools rather quickly and still has a good amount of flow up top.

As was previously said, www.homemadeturbo.com is a great resource for junkyard setups. They're pros at building cool setups for next to no money

94, 95, 96 are all badged Turbo on the back and had the 15G. After that they started selling them in either low pressure or high pressure turbo variants. The 15G came on the high pressure turbos, which were badged T5. Following 97 the 850 was renamed to S70, and those also came in T5 trims.
