Default Rust Removal on an '98 ITR??

Im looking at an '98 itr and the body is in pretty bad shape. It is a DD and it has some rust started on the right rear QP where the bumper and the body meet.

Im goign to call come body shops but was wanting to get some input on rust. is it possible for body shops to remove the rust and prevent it from coming back in teh spot. Its very small at this point, but it will spread. Everything else with the car is in tip-top shape, it just needs some body work.

Wondering if its even worth my time.

Thanks for the input.

It is very hard to stop rust, it always comes back... even if you change the bad metal, it will always comes back because that part of the quarter panel is a drainage spot. Just get it repaired ASAP, that's all you can do...

is it worth my time to try to buy then? how long does a rust repair last? if im going to have to get it repaired every 6 months because of the rust; thats not cost efficient to me.

Repairs will last longer than that. Althought there are factors that will speed up the oxidation process like salt, and temp. A good body shop will make sure it won't come back for a long time. Especially if new metal is used.

It is very rare for an ITR to have rust anyway.

I've seen people driving a type R during winter (snow and salt), what a waste IMO...

For some people the itr is a dd. So we have to. And it is not a waste. Its a waste not to drive them.

I dont think i would dd mine in snow/salt. That soo damaging to paint/body! I live in FL so obviously i dont need to worry about that. As for rust issues, If its cut out and replaced properly, it shouldn't come back anytime soon, if done right!

I would just repair it, use it as a bargain chip. A good body shop can repair it, and it will last for years to come.

I DD my R it snows, there is salt and ice, all I do is give it a good hosing when I get home or the next morning. My R is rust free too.

thats exactly what i did. unfortunately it did not work. he was very unreasonable. there were other body issues as well. so i nixed that car. too bad it was nice otherwise.

also i did talk to a few body shops and rust can be repaired. they can knock it out and resculpt it, or they could replace the whole QP. its not cheap, but they can do it.

my search continues.....
