Cam Gear advancement/retard
Well, is there a theory to advancing and retarding timing for intake and exhaust cams (DOHC). Should the intake be retared a few degrees and the exhaust be advanced or vice versa? Or should they go the same way? Just wondering if there was because I am about to dyno tune my car and was wondering what should be the next try since I didn't get to finish yet. Please don't say that the mechanics should know (even tho they should) but I want to finish.

If you retard the intake cam your engine will breathe better at higher rpms but you will sacrifice low rpm performance.
If you also advance the exhaust you'll have more overlap and more time in between valve events. This will allow you to make more power up top.

have you done your home work?
you are to advance your intake cam [1-3] and retard you exhaust cam[1-2] so you put more air in to the moter to cumbust not sooner but more and keep it in there longer so it burnes more efficieintly[mour h/p].
get this: 88 crx b16a. cold air in take. full [nice]exhaust system. cams. cam gears. fpr. afg. no slipe dif. on 17'wheels 13.8@ not shure his speed.
not bad.
you can be fast to if you tune you car. spend some time with it each day and it will help.
