Default ss b series header flanges??

i looked through the where to buy materials sticky and didnt see any. who sells stainless header flanges for b heads? will bmc make them or do they just do mild? if anyone can answer this it might help to add it to the sticky also.

is there a reason other than cost why these are hard to find? is there a reason to not use stainless for the flange if the rest of it is stainless?

thanks.

does it warp from welding it or from the heat from the head/exhaust gas?

Both. You can fix a warped flange during the fab process, but it will warp from heat cycling the motor too.

i've used both for manifolds and as long as you tighten them down after heat cycling on the engine they flatten out.

? for you canada guys im still waiting for weirtech to respond to my pm's for pricing so maybe someone else can give me some insight on this. ive never ordered or had anything shipped from canada, will it take any longer to get here and will the shipping cost more than it would for a similar distance inside the states?

I got one from SLS but i did not know they were stainless! LOL. If it is, I welded up my manifold and I did not warp.

hmm, how was it welded? was it milled after u welded it? did u do little sections at a time?

im kinda concerned cuz i Spent a LONG time cutting it AND milling it also... 1.5 is allot of material

From runner to flange it was welded in about 3/4 to 1" sections and then I moved on to another runner.

It was not milled afterwards, but I tired to correct the warp by putting it on a cylinder head resurfacing machine. It worked until it heat cycled a bunch of time and only kept getting worse. I used a copper exhaust gasket and that didn't help too much either.

Seriously, it loogs great, but isn't worth the headache.
