Failing ebrake.
Yesterday me and my buddy spent all day trying to figure out why my car has a steering shutter at 60mph ONLY after driving 15 minutes.
Well turns out, when we got back to his driveway after our fourth "test drive". I stopped the car to get the garage door open, and the car stood still on a gradient in neutral with ebrake off. We opened our doors and tried to push the car down the hill and it would barely budge.
So I guess the problem is brake related. Because at the beginning of the drive the car would coast just fine.
So we get the car on jackstands again and we check out all four wheels and the front left brake is the only one that is grabby. So we thought, cool. It's either a bad caliper or a piston seal because the pedal would simultaneously get very stiff.
So we go inside, order our parts and he goes home.
I wake up this morning and notice the car is way far back in the garage. And the back bumper dinked the garage door. I look inside and the ebrake is off.
What the hell? I don't think the ebrake has anything to do with the front brakes?
Anyway, I pull the ebrake just out of curiosity and it stays up and the cars stays "planted" but I parked it in gear just in case.
Could my problems in anyway be related? I'm in no way mechanical, my buddy is the one who is. And he can't come over to check this out until a couple days.
So I thought I would just post it up in here...

did u engage the ebrake after you left? i am going to say you didnt.
sounds like a sticky piston in the caliper. this happens when the brake fluid is never flushed and it collects moisture.

It did fall before but I didn't notice. At my buddies house the car was getting jacked up when he asked me if the ebrake was on. And I was like "durr", then I looked inside and it wasn't. At the time it just seemed like I had a brain fart. The second time, not so much.
The ebrake engages FIRMLY and locks upright like normal. But falls down later?
Does it have something to do with "The grabby brake" somehow releasing it's pressure when sitting after driving. Because the brake works fine when you first drive it and gets worse overtime.
I guess I'm just asking these stupid questions because my funds are limited, and I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone.
All I can say is that when the brake starts grabbing, it's after at least 15 minutes of driving. When it does start grabbing the brake pedal gets very very stiff. And now my ebrake is disengaging out of nowhere lol. I thought the e-brake had only to do with the rear wheels?
Holy ****.
I forgot I opened up the brake master cylinder tank to check fluid level.
And right after that is when the ebrake fell down...
all I did was peel the cap and look in...and either way, the brakes were grabby before.
