I haven't had a lotta posts but I've been a listener from behind for a long while now.

I need by Type-R brothers to help me out with this one. I've never raced at a track before, just on really secluded streets or desolate parking lots. I'd consider myself a decent driver, but what can I really say?

Well here goes the story. A Si pulls on me asks me to run with him. I said no, lets go somewhere safer (less people = less dangerous + no cops). We hit this long desolate street. We start, he burns his tires on launch and my LSD doesn't let me slip AT ALL. We have the same exact launch but he starts to pull on me. I hear his vtec going and he pulls further. I hit vtec and the pulling ceases. He's about 1 car length ahead of me and we stay that way for the duration. So in essence, I matched him shift for shift. So the least I could say is that I was equal in driving ability.

His mods included CAI, exhaust from headers back, not inluding headers. MSD ignition system and maybe plugs. Please don't take this out of context but it does hold some merit. He said his car "use to be" turbo. I could hear blow off valves and he had a boost gauge. But I look under the hood and nothing!? Could you hear the valves without a turbo? I don't know this whole deal is really sorry. I'm sorry I lost one for the team...

The question I have is how???

what color was it? i raced an SI with the exact same mods a couple of months ago and it was a pretty good race--i only took him because i got a better launch.

Really? Its black with white 17s. He said he had taken a PY Type R a while back... is it you?

 

yeah it must have been me. was it a pretty young kid? lots of stickers under the hood? koni stickers on the shock towers? the little punk didn't "take" me though...if anything, i took him by a carlength due to the launch.

Yeah he is young! And he did have a lot of stickers under the hood. And yeah, he said he won. We went to the same high school...

What do you have on your car?
He was pretty fast for a Si huh? Or maybe I just suck at driving.

 

i'm stock. speed-wise, i'd say the cars were pretty equal however the kid couldn't launch at all. he lit up the tires and i slipped the clutch out from like 5k and pulled out about a carlength and it stayed like that. i think i actually have the race on tape to prove that he didn't win--my passenger was filming. to his credit, he was quick.

Wanna show me the tape sometime. Damn I need to learn how to race; Are you a professional?

How should I launch on ITRs? I mean, I didn't spin the tires at all from a drop at 3k. The LSD just locked me up then he was gone.

He probably has cams or something. I've raced plenty of SI's before, with similar mods, and they never come close. Either he's a bad *** driver, or has some internal work done.

 

i'm a professional road racer. my only drag-type experience is from the touring car standing starts. i usually bring the revs up to about 5000 and then slip the clutch out.
i never actually saw underneath the hood-my friend (who knows nothing about imports) did. the SI actually sounded supercharged. i did actually see the boost gauge though.

Are you guys sure he wasn't spraying? Both the BOV sound and the spraying sound, sounds similar. I think he either had cams, or he was spraying with a hidden selonoid, so you guys wouldn't know.

 

Looked under the hood...Didn't see anything that resembled a root blower or centrifugal. Weird, I felt like i heard the same deal but nothing...

Where are you located? Kinda like to speak with you sometime, learn the ropes.

 

i'm currently in paradise valley but i'm actually leaving for purdue tomorrow (today?) i should be back within a couple of weeks though. i'm surprised you haven't seen me around--i'm in scottsdale a lot.

I went to Horizon High SChool...56th and Greenway. I think I have seen you. Do you know another chick who owns a PY ITR who works at Paradise Valley Hospital? I think she mentioned you. I'm goin to U of A but will be dropping back fairly often; we should meet up sometime.

we're just saying that we don't know the extent of modification to that car. we were simply stating that there was a possibility that there was more to that car then meets the eye. suck at driving? name the track and date and i'll be there. if you can turn a lap time even close to mine, i'd be impressed--i doubt you could. not to be cocky or anything, but you're an ******* and you have no idea what you're talking about. if you're not intellegent enought to keep up with a conversation, it's best to not attempt to chime in with your worthless opinion. later...

How could a Si with I/E keep up with a ITR?

 

Did you overlook the obvious? B18C5 under the hood? MMMMmmmmmaybe? next time the young stunna opens the hood look to see what motor! and report back.
