Default 92 cx w/ B18c5?

I'm thinking about selling my Integra and buying a 92 hatch. Your posts is what i will base my decsion on. What would a 92cx witha b18c5 run in the 1/4? Say if all conditions were right, and i'm a REALLY good driver. Also, what would a 92cx run with a gsr motor? And one last time...what would it run with a regular b18b? Oh, and all motors will have I/H/C/E. THANKS ALOT!

I wouldn't base my decision on what other H-T members thought. My guess for the 1/4 miles times are:

B18C5: 13.5

B18C1: 13.9

B18B: 14.7

On top of that, they're all crap anyway. You have no idea who the driver is, how much he (or she) weighs, or anything. Useless to even speculate.

Let me tell you from experience what a 1992 CX with a B18C5 will run in the 1/4 mile:

13.3@99mph

That's what mine did on the little 14'' M/T baby slicks. This was minimal mods - not even an aftermarket header. Just intake, exhaust, re-chipped P28 ECU, and the tires.

That was also at 1100ft, ABOVE seal level.

Here's pretty much every thread that you can read about my car complete with pictures, lists of mods, track conditions when I raced it, etc.

My car during the build-up. This was WELL into the build-up:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=155284

My car right after it was done being built:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=186832

The thread about my trip to the dragstrip in the car:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=193905&page=1

That's about it really I guess. I'll help you out with any info you need to get the swap done, and I think it's safe to say that you can ask me first and I'll give you the right info because I've done the B18C5 swap 4 times now - 1 time in my pal's 1992 CX and then 3 times in my old 1992 Si and 1992 CX hatch that I currenbtly own.

Here's a link to some pics of my 1992 Si hatch with the same B18C5 swap in it:

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=83921

Also if you're debating on which motor to get I might have some insight on that issue too. I've had a B18C1, B16A2, and a B18C5 swap all in the exact same car - 1992 Si hatch. My fiancee' still has her 1992 Si hatch with B16A2 in it.

Every single 1992 Civic is ALREADY pre-wired for VTEC!!!

I did not have to add one single wire to my 1992 CX when I did my B18C5 swap. I used the USDM engine harness and it plugs right into the underhoos harness on each strut tower area on the 1992 Civic. There will be a few extra plugs left over, but they are not needed at all.

Run a re-chipped P28 like I did and the swap is 100% plug and play!!!

Totally reliable as long as you don't be stupid like me and run 14 times at the strip on slicks launching at full throttle at 8000rpms.

I broke a tranny that way, but normal people do not have that problem.

I have to say that that is a good time. With baby slicks you should get a time like that with that motor...

But what is up with that top speed 99mph????? that is a little low, i run a 13.68 @102mph without slicks...your 60' times must be sick

hey man good time...

MY traps are so low because I have a 4.929 FD in there.

The baby slicks are shorter than any 15'' wheel/tire combo, so add to that my short as **** FD and you get killer 1/8 mile but no top end. I would hit 9200rpms in 4th gear crossing the line. No matter what 60 footers I had, the trap speeds stayed 99mph on those damn shorty slicks.

If I didn't have the kenji P28 ECU with the 9200rpm rev limiter then I'd be screwed with that 4.929FD and baby slicks. I'd have to shift into 5th gear!

Taller slicks and closer to sea level would net easy high 12's and traps of more like 103mph or so.

I ran street tires 2 times but had the most horrible wheel hop because the track prep was shitty. I ran 14.0@101mph on the street tires once. Keep in mind I had no intention of running street tires though - I had them at full 32psi and I made no attempts to get good times on street tires because the slicks were borrowed and just too much fun!
