Hi, I'd like to get your opinions/numbers about 25'' and 24.5'' slicks.
Those would be 25x8.7x13 M&H, 24.5x9x13 MT and 25x9x15 Toyos.
Anybody tried testing back to back runs?
Thanks a lot
Chris

The MT 24.5 is an awesome tire. I had 30 passes on mine running single stage boost (roasting them off the line) and they didn't drop off much at all. I just rotated them every pass or so.
It lays out A LOT more than the other tires, has a very awesome sidewall, and grips for days
I'd be hard pressed to ever put a different brand on my car.

i dont like the MT 24.5s so much. They seem to start getting "peeled" back and look like ground beef. Im actually switching to 25 or 24.5x8x13 M&H this year, last year i had 24.5x8x15 MTs. Im hoping the extra side was helps with my 60fts.
A buddy of mine, did a little testing one night, and actually was cutting almost .1 faster 60ft times with 23 M&H slicks vs 24.5 MTs.

i have ran the 24.5 x 8.5 x 15 and the 25 x 8.7 x 13 m and h. both with great success, but i am now spinning the m and h more than id like.
you cannot go wrong with john's customer service. and he is not the reason i am trying the mickey t 24.5 x 9 x 13. i just need to know and find out for myself.
if it were strictly based on customer service, hands down john from m and h gets the nod.

I tested my 23inch M&H vs their new 25 inch.
Late last year i was finishing up in the top of 4th with the 23 and wanted to run the 24.5inch x 13 but they were all sold out. John at m&h talked me into a 25inch x 13. All i can say is that i love 25 inch slick. i picked up an avg of 5mph through the 1/8th and 4 tenths in the 1/4 with no changes to boost. I had the slicks balanced and car went straight as an arrow. I cut 1.6xx-1.7xx 60 fts with it as well @ 6.5 psi in them.
Tested on my 2500lb vw hooptie... 02 cents.

I used to run the 25" M&H until about two years ago when i bought a used set of 24.5" M/T from Joe Simpson. I used them for the rest of that season. I thought the tires were done so i purchased a new set. ShawnR ended up with my old set last year and ran them. First time out cut 1.6 60fts and went 6.5's in the 1/8.
M/T has my vote.

Also, the ground beef look is normal as the tires scrub in like that. Were you rotating them often?
the tires getting all knarled up (ground beef looking perhaps from what someone else commented on) is from beating the hell out of the tires -- not good -- turn the power down and watch the car go quicker -- once the tires get all knarled up like that they lose some of their effectiveness from what I have seen -- ideally your tires will be nice a smooth after a pass -- that shows good traction down the entire track
look at the top dogs sport compact drag racing -- MT is on the majority of cars -- that speaks volumes about what works.
john at M&H is killer on the customer service, I know this, just ordered a set of tires for a customer of mine from them this past week, great to deal with -- but when racing can potentially come down to tenths for a win light or a loss -- i will have MT on my car
(trust me, if i could find a good reason to run M&H on my car vs MT i would be all over them for John's and the M&H Team's customer service alone and MT pisses me off daily by not allowing anyone to make money on their product -- from a business perspective M&H has my vote -- but at an event my car will have MT's on it for the time being)

james, i dont think im making enough power to "over power" the slicks. i dont remember the exact numbers, but i think it was around 450ish whp on 18-20psi. i launch right in that boost range. i know you pro guys are leaving with way more power. idk, maybe its just the way they prep the local track, but most of the guys around here have had better luck on M&H slicks...
The tires are at least 3 years old, I've owned them for a year and a half. I'm guessing
about 20 pass's on them so far.
Last time out they gave me 9 sub 1.6 sixtys best being a 1.54.
The sidewalls are kinda stiff for a manual trans though, they break parts I'm told.

The sidewall is soft enough to absorb shock, and stiff enough to keep my car straight (I was never fond of that top end "drift" with other brands due to the super soft sidewall).
Many of the factory teams run the Toyo brand slicks including Scion and Toyota.
15" rim = driveline killer. The more sidewall the better, if you can run a 13" rim, that would be the way to go. IMO the MTs will hold power quite a few more passes more than the MHs do. The MT also has footprint about 3/4" wider.
