i got a 88 crx hf..and tonight the battery light came on...and then the revs started jumpin up and down a few hundred rpms. after 15 or so minutes..i reved it up to like 5k and it started to go away. then the light went off at a red light..and the revs went back to normal..what the hell??

i searched..but no results came up.

 

check your alternator and belts?

 

i checked the belt..its fine. i havent done a test on the alternator yet..but the light went off. and im really just wondering why the alternator would have anything to do with the idle hunting.

 

your brush's could be almost worn out... my alternator went out on my van, but would make enough voltage to turn off the light when i let it sit in the sun and then would rev the **** out of it.
