AEM Wideband UEGO Gauge Kit - does it replace the factory O2 sensor?
I'm confused and am hoping someone can alleviate my confusion. I have just purchased an AEM Wideband UEGO Gauge Kit which includes a guage (which is also the controller) and an accompanying O2 sensor. Does this sensor replace the factory one? It does have an output for the voltage from the controller to go to the ecu; however, i'm concerned that there will be an issue with a Heated O2 sensor code if i remove the other one entirely as the heated circuit for the AEM comes from the controller rather than the ecu. I've considered removing the header and having another bung welded on, then disconnecting the factory O2 voltage signal wire from the ecu and replacing it with the one from the AEM. This however, seems like pain if it can be avoided. Any thoughts?
put it in with the sensor bung you got with the kit. I put mine just after the collector. make sure its welded in at an angle so the sensor will clear the the underneath of your car. you can then take the output from the gauge and run it to the correct input pin on your ecu. Then adjust the voltage/lambda rate on your ecu.
No it doesnt.. but if your running say eCtune then you could plug ur wideband dirently into your ecu but your gonna kill your wideband quicker since there not really made to run all the time. I would only plug in a wideband for tuning reasons.
I have to keep mine plugged in all the time anyway because of the disparate kinds of e85 supplied at various times of the year. In the winter for exampe its still called e85 but in reality it is closer to 70-75% ethanol. Basically, the only way i'll know that is if my A/F guage tells me so i can add octane booster to prevent predetonation. So i'll just have to keep replacing the sensor when it goes bad i suppose.
